But you, speak what befits sound teaching,

(the) old men to be temperate, worthy of respect, sober, being sound (in) the faith, in love and in endurance,

(the) old women likewise (to be) reverent in behavior, not (to be) slanderers, not having been enslaved(=addicted) to much wine, (but to be) teachers of good things,

so that they may train the young women to be husband-lovers, child-lovers,

sober, chaste, workers at home, good, being submissive to the(=their) own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.

Likewise, exhort the younger men to be sober(=self-controlled),

showing(=show) yourself about all things(=in all respects) an example of good works, integrity in the(=your) teaching, gravity,

sound speech incontestable(=that cannot be condemned), so that the one among (the) opposite(=the opponent) might(=may) be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us.

(Exhort) slaves to be subject to (their) own masters in all things, to be well pleasing, not talking back,

not pilfering, but showing all good faith(=fidelity), that they may adorn the teaching of God our Savior in all things.

For the grace of God (being) salvation to all men has appeared,

disciplining us that, having denied [the] ungodliness and [the] worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteously and godly in the now(=present) age,

waiting for the blessed hope and (the) manifestation of the glory of (the) great God and our Savior, Jesus Christ,

who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all lawless and might purify (for) himself a people of his own, (who are) zealous of good works.

Speak these things and exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.
