1 I charge (you) in the presence of [the] God and of Christ Jesus, being about to judge(=who will judge) (the) living and (the) dead, (by) his appearing and his kingdom,
2 proclaim the word; be ready in season (and) out of season; rebuke, advice, exhort with all longsuffering and teaching.
3 For (the) time will be(=come) when they will not endure teaching of being healthy(=sound doctrine), but, according to the(=their) own lusts, they will heap up for themselves teachers, tickling the ear,
4 and will turn away the(=their) ear from the truth, and will be turned aside to myths.
5 But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do (the) work of an evangelist, fulfil your ministry.
6 For I am already being poured out as a libation, and the time of my departure has come.
7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
8 Now there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me in that day, and not only to me, but also to all the ones having loved his appearing.
9 Do your best to come to me quickly.
10 For Demas has deserted me, having loved the present age(=world) and has gone to Thessalonica. Crescens (has gone) to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia.
11 Only Luke is with me. Having taken Mark, bring (him) with yourself, for he is useful to me for ministry.
12 And I have sent Tychicus to Ephesus.
13 Coming, bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas, and the books, especially the parchments.
14 Alexander the coppersmith showed(=did) me many evils(=great harm). The Lord will repay him according to his works,
15 of whom you also beware(=you also, beware of him), for he strongly opposed our words.
16 At my first defense no one was beside(=stood) with me, but all deserted me. May it not be counted(#aorist optative passive) (against) them.
17 But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that through me the proclamation might be fulfilled and all the Gentiles might hear. And I was delivered from (the) mouth of (the) lion.
18 The Lord will deliver me from every evil work and will save (me) to(=for) his heavenly kingdom, to whom (be) the glory unto the ages of the ages(=for ever and ever). Amen.
