(=alt.word)  ·  (added word)  ·  [omit]

And [when] it came to pass (for) us to set sail, having been parted(=after we had departed) from them; having taken a straight course, we came to [the] Cos, and on the next (day) to [the] Rhodes, and from there to Patara.

And having found a ship crossing to Phoenicia, having boarded we set sail.

And having sighted [the] Cyprus, and having left it on the left, we were sailing to Syria, and we came down to Tyre, because there the ship was unloading(=was to unload)1 the cargo.

And having found the disciples, we stayed there seven days. They were saying to Paul through the Spirit not to go up to Jerusalem.

And when it came to pass (for) us to complete the days, having come out, we were going on our way; (and) escorting of all(=they all accompanied)2 us with women and children as far as outside the city; and having placed the knees(=we knelt) on the shore, having prayed.

We said farewell (to) each other and went on board in the ship. And those returned to own things(=home).

And we, having finished the voyage from Tyre, reached at Ptolemais, and having greeted the brothers, we stayed one day with them.

And (on) the next (day), having come out, we came to Caesarea, and having entered into the house of Philip the evangelist being (one) of the Seven, we stayed with him.

And to this (man) were four daughters, virgins prophesying.

And of staying(=while we were staying)3 many days, a certain prophet by name(=named) Agabus came down from [the] Judea.

And having come to us and having taken the girdle of Paul, having bound his own feet and hands, he said, “Thus says the Holy Spirit, ‘So the Jews in(=at) Jerusalem will bind the man whose girdle is this, and will hand (him) over to (the) hands of Gentiles.’”

And when we heard these things, both we and the ones there were begging him not to go up to Jerusalem.

Then [the] Paul answered, “What are you doing weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”

And his not being persuaded(=when he would not be persuaded)4, we became quiet, having said, “Let the will of the Lord be done.”

And after these days, having packed up, we were going up to Jerusalem.

And (some) of the disciples from Caesarea went with us, leading (us) to one Mnason (of) Cyprus, an old disciple, with whom we were to stay.

And our being(=when we were)5 in(=at) Jerusalem, the brothers received us joyfully.

And (on) the next (day) [the] Paul went in with us to James, and all the elders were present.

And having greeted them, he was relating one by one the things which [the] God did among the Gentiles through his ministry.

And having heard, they were glorifying [the] God, and they said (to) him, “You see, brother, how many myriads of the ones having believed are among the Jews, and they are all zealous for the law.”

“And they were informed about you that you teach all the Jews among the Gentiles apostasy from Moses(=to forsake Moses), saying (for) them not to circumcise the children nor to walk (according to) the customs(# dative of manner).”

What is it then(=What then is to happen)? Certainly they will hear that you has come.”

“Therefore, do this what we tell you. There are to us four men having a vow on themselves.”

“Having taken these (men), purify yourself with them, and pay (the expense) for them so that they will shave the(=their) head. And all (men) will know that the things of which they have been informed about you are nothing, but (that) you yourself live uprightly keeping the law.”

“And concerning the Gentiles having believed, we have written (a letter), having decided (for) them to keep themselves (from) the (thing) sacrificed to idols, (from) blood, (from) the strangled, and (from) fornication.”

Then [the] Paul, having taken the men (on) the next day, having purified with them, went to(#imperfect for aorist) the temple, to announce the completion of the days of the purification, until the offering was offered for every one of them.

And when the seven days were about to be fulfilled, the Jews from [the] Asia, having noticed him in the temple, were stirring up all the crowd, and laid upon him the(=their) hands,

crying out, “Men of Israel, help! This is the man teaching all (men) everywhere against the people and the law and this place. And he brought Greeks also into the temple, and defiled this holy place.”

For they were having previously seen(=had previously seen)6 Trophimus the Ephesian in the city with him, whom they were supposing [the] Paul (had) brought into the temple.

And the whole city was moved. And there was a running together of the people(=the people ran together), and having held [of] Paul, they were dragging him out of the temple, and immediately the doors were shut.

And of seeking(=while they were trying)7 to kill him, a report came up to the commander(=Roman chief of 1000 soldiers) of the cohort(=600 troops), that all Jerusalem is(=was) in turmoil,

who, at once having took soldiers and centurions, ran down on them. And they, having seen the commander and the soldiers, stopped beating [the] Paul.

Then having gone near, the commander arrested him, and ordered (him) to be bound with two chains, and asked who he was(#optative) and what he is having done(=had done).

And some among the crowd were shouting one thing, some another. And his not being able to(=as he cannot)8 know the certain thing because of the uproar, he ordered him to be brought into the camp.

And when he was on the stairs, it happened (for) him to be carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the crowd.

For the multitude of the people were following, crying out, “Away with him.”

And being about to be brought into the camp, [the] Paul says (to) the commander, “If it is permissible for me to say(=May I speak) something to you?” And he was saying, “Do you know Greek?”

“Then, aren’t you the Egyptian before these days (who has) stirred up a revolt and led into the desert the four thousand men of Sicarii(=assassins)?”

And [the] Paul said, “I am indeed a Jewish man from Tarsus of(=in) Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city. And I beg you, allow me to speak to the people.”

And his having allowed(=when he allowed)9, [the] Paul, having stood on the stairs, shook down (with) the(=his) hand to the people. And great silence’s becoming(=when there was great silence)10, he addressed in the Hebrew language, saying,
