1 And Saul still breathing out threat(#partitive gen.) and murder(#partitive gen.) against the disciples of the Lord, having gone to the high priest,
2 asked of him letters to Damascus for the synagogues, so that if he found any being of(=belonging to) the Way, either men or women, having been bound, he might bring to Jerusalem.
3 And in to go(=as he went)1, it came to pass for him to draw near(=he came near) to Damascus, and suddenly a light from [the] heaven shined around him.
4 And having fallen on the earth, he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”
5 And he said, “Who are you, Lord?” And he (said), “I am Jesus whom you persecute.”
6 “But arise, and enter into the city. And it shall be told (to) you what you have to do.”
7 And the men travelling with him were standing speechless, hearing indeed the sound but seeing none.
8 And Saul got up from the earth. And his eyes’ having been opened(=when his eyes were opened)2, he was seeing nothing. And leading him by the hand, they brought into Damascus.
9 And he was not seeing (for) three days(#acc. of duration). And he did neither eat nor drink.
10 And there was a certain disciple in Damascus, Ananias by name(#dat. of respect). And the Lord said (to) him in a vision, “Ananias!” And he said, “Behold, I(=Here I am), Lord.”
11 And the Lord (said) to him. “Having risen up, go to the street called Straight, and seek in (the) house of Judas for Saul by name(#dat. of respect), a (man from) Tarsus. For behold, he is praying”
12 “And he saw a man [in a vision], Ananias by name(#dat. of respect), having come in and [having] put upon him (his) hands(=laid his hands on him), so that he might see again.”
13 And Ananias Answered, “Lord, I heard from many about this man, how many evil things he has done to your saints in Jerusalem.”
14 “And here he has authority from the high priests to bind all the ones invoking your name.”
15 But the Lord said (to) him. “Go, because this is an instrument of choice(# Hebraic gen.) to me to carry my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the sons of Israel.”
16 “[For] I will show him how many things he have to(=must) suffer for my name.”
17 And Ananias went away, and entered into the house, and having put on him the(=his) hands, said, “Brother Saul, The Lord, Jesus having appeared (to) you in the way which you was coming, has sent me so that you might see again and be filled of(=with) the Holy Spirit.”
18 And immediately things like scales fell away from his eyes, and he saw again, and having risen up, he was baptized.
19 And having taken food, he has been strong. And he was with the disciples in Damascus (for) some days.
20 And immediately he proclaimed in the synagogues the Jesus that this One is the Son of God.
21 And all the ones hearing were amazed, and were saying, “Isn’t this the one having destroyed in Jerusalem the ones invoking this name? And (isn’t it that) he had come here for this (purpose) that having been bound them, he might bring to the high priests?”
22 But Saul was growing strong more, and was confuting Jews, the ones dwelling in Damascus, proving that this is the Christ.
23 And when many days were fulfilled(=many days has gone by), the Jews plotted together to kill him.
24 But their plot was known to Saul. And they were closely watching (on) also the gates both day and night(# gen. of time) so that they might kill him.
25 But having taken him by night, his disciples let (him) down having lowered(# aor. ptc. simultaneous action) in a basket through the wall.
26 And arriving at Jerusalem, he was trying to be joined to the disciples. And all were fearing him, not believing(#causal ptc.) that he is a disciple.
27 But Barnabas, having held him, led to the apostles, and narrated to them how in the way he saw the Lord, and that He spoke to him, and how in Damascus he spoke boldly in the name of Jesus.
28 And he was with them, going in and going out in Jerusalem, speaking boldly in the name of the Lord,
29 spoke and discussed with the Hellenists(=Greek-speaking Jews or Hellenizers). And they were attempting to kill him.
30 And having known, the brothers brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him off to Tarsus.
31 Therefore, the church throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria was having peace, being built up and going(=living)3 in the fear(#dat. of manner) of the Lord and in the encouragement of the Holy Spirit, (and) was being multiplied.
32 And it came to pass for Peter, passing through all (areas), to have come down also to the saints dwelling (in) Lydda.
33 And he found there a certain man, Aeneas by name, lying on bed for eight years, who was being paralysed.
34 And Peter said (to) him. “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you. Rise up, and spread your (bed)(=make your bed).” And immediately he rose up.
35 And all the ones dwelling (at) Lydda and Saron saw him, (and) [who] turned to the Lord.
36 And in Joppa, there was a certain disciple, Tabitha by name, which, being translated, is called Dorcas, this (woman) was full of works of good and of alms which she was doing.
37 And it happened, having been sick in those days, for her to die. And having washed, they put (her) in an upper room.
38 And Lydda’s being near to Joppa(=Lydda was near to Joppa)4, the disciples, having heard that Peter is(=was) in it, sent two men to him, beseeching “Do not hesitate to come to us.”
39 And having risen up, Peter went with them, having arrived(=when he arrived), whom they brought up into the upper room. And all the widows stood by him, weeping and showing tunics and garments which Dorcas made being with them(=while she was with them).
40 And having put them all outside, having placed the knees(=having knelt down), Peter prayed. And having turned to the body, he said, “Tabitha, rise up.” And she opened her eyes. And having seen Peter, she sat up.
41 And having given to her a hand, he raised up her. And having called the saints and the widows, he presented her alive.
42 And it was known throughout all Joppa. And many believed on(=in) the Lord.
43 It came to pass (for him) to stay many days in Joppa with one Simon a tanner.
