(=alt.word)  ·  (added word)  ·  [omit]

And Saul was consenting(#peripher. impf.) to [the] his death. And there was in that day a great persecution upon the church in Jerusalem. And all except the apostles were scattered throughout the regions of Judae and Samaria.

And devout men buried Stephen, and made great mourning over him.

But Saul was ravaging the church. Entering over(# acc. distributive) houses, dragging both men and women, he was handing over to prison.

Therefore the ones having been scattered went about, proclaiming the word.

But Philip, having gone down to the city of Samaria, was preaching to them the Christ.

And the crowds were paying attention to the things being said by Philip with one mind, in the to hear them and to see(=when they heard and saw)1 the signs which he was doing,

because many of the ones having(=from many of the ones being possessed)2, unclean spirits, crying with a great voice, were coming out. And many having been paralyzed and cripples were healed.

And there was much joy in that city.

And a certain man, Simon by name, was previously in the city, practicing magic and astonishing the people of Samaria, saying himself to be(=that he was) someone great.

to whom all from (the) little to (the) great were paying attention, saying, “This (man) is the power of God being called great.”

And they were paying attention to him because (for him) to have astonished(=he had astonished) them by the magics for a considerable time(# dat. of extend of tim).

But when they believed Philip preaching about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were being baptized, both men and women.

And Simon himself believed also. And having been baptized he was remaining(#periphr. impf.) to Philip. And seeing both signs and great miracles happening, he was being amazed.

And having heard that Samaria had received the word of God, the apostles in Jerusalem sent to them Peter and John.

They, having gone down, prayed concerning them so that they might receive the Holy Spirit.

For He(=the Holy Spirit) was not yet having fallen upon anyone of them, but only they were having been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Then they were laying the hands upon them. And they were receiving (the) Holy Spirit.

And having seen that through the laying on of the apostles’ hands the (Holy) Spirit is(=was) given, Simon offered them money,

saying, “Give me also this authority that whomever I might lay on the hands, he may receive (the) Holy Spirit.”

And Peter said (to) him. “May your silver be(#opt.) into destruction(=May your silver perish) with you because you thought to obtain the gift of God through(=with) money.”

“There is (to) you neither part nor lot in this matter(=ministry), because your heart is not right before God.”

“Therefore, repent from this your wickedness. And pray to the Lord if perhaps the thought of your heart will be forgiven for you.”

“For I see you being in (the) gall of bitterness and (the) bond of iniquity.”

And having answered, [the] Simon said, “[You,] Pray for me to the Lord so that none of things which you have spoken might come upon me.”

Therefore they, having solemnly witnessed and having spoken the word of the Lord, were returning to Jerusalem and preaching the gospel (in) many villages of the Samaritans.

And an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise and go along the south on the road going down from Jerusalem to Gaza. This (road) is desert.”

And having risen up, he went. And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was over all her treasure, who had come worshipping(=to worship) in Jerusalem.

And he was returning and sitting on his chariot, and was reading the prophet Isaiah.

And the (Holy) Spirit said (to) Philip, “Go near and join (with) this chariot.”

And having run up, [the] Philip heard his reading Isaiah the prophet. And he said, “Do you know what you are reading?”

And he said, “How can(#potential opt.) I (do) unless someone shall guide(# future for subj.) me?” And he begged Philip having gotten up(=to get in) (and) to sit with him.

And the content(=passage) of the writing(=Scripture) which he was reading was this: “As a sheep to (the) slaughter, he was led. And as a lamb before the one having sheared him (is) voiceless, so he does not open his mouth.”

“In the humiliation, his judgement(=justice) was taken away. Who will describe his generation? For his life is taken from the earth.”

And having answered, the eunuch said (to) Philip, “I ask you, About whom the prophet says this? About himself or about some other?”

And having opened his mouth, and having begun from this Scripture, Philip preached to him the(=about) Jesus.

And when they were going along the road, they came unto a certain water. And the eunuch says, “Behold, (here is) water. What hinders (for) me to be baptized(=from my being baptized)?”

[The] Philip said to him, “If you believe witt all your heart, you may.” Having answered, he said, “I believe the Son of God to be the Jesus Christ(=that Jesus Christ is the Son of God).”

And he ordered to stand still(=stop) the chariot. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water. And he baptized him.

And when they came up out of the water, (the) Spirit of the Lord seized (and carried away) Philip. And the eunuch did not see him any more, for(=and) he was going on his way rejoicing.

And Philip was found in Azotus, and passing through, he was evangelizing (in) all the cities until for him to come(=he came) to Caesarea.
