And a certain man Ananias by name, with Sapphira his wife, sold a property.

And he kept back (some) from the price, the wife’s having had known(=with his wife’s knowledge)1. And having brought a part(=the rest), he put (it) at the apostles’ feet.

And Peter said, “Ananias, For what have Satan filled your heart (for) you to deceive the Holy Spirit and to keep (back) some from the price of the land?”

(While) remaining, was it(=the land) not remaining? And having been sold, was it not in your authority? For what did you put in your heart this deed? You have lied not to men but to God.”

And hearing these words, having fallen, Ananias died. And great fear came upon all the ones hearing.

And having stood up, the young (men) wrapped him. And having carried out, they buried.

And there was an interval of about three hours. And his wife, not knowing(# pf. ptc. fem.) the thing having happened, entered.

And Peter answered to her, “Tell me, whether you sold the land for so much?” And she said, “Yes, for so much.”

And Peter (said) to her, “For what(=How) was it agreed with you to test the Spirit of the Lord? Behold, the feet of the ones having buried your husband (are) at the door, and they will carry you out.”

And she fell immediately at his feet, and died. And having entered, the young (men) found her dead. And having carried out, they buried beside her husband.

And great fear came upon all the church and upon all the ones hearing these things.

And though the hands of the apostles happened many signs and wonders among the people. And all were with one mind in the porch of Solomon.

And no one of the rest dared to join oneself to them, but the people was magnifying them.

And the ones believing were more added to the Lord. (It was) multitudes both of men and women.

So as(# w. inf. as result) to bring out the sick ones into the streets and to place (them) on mattress and litters, so that the(=his) shadow, Peter’s coming(=as Peter came)2, might overshadow(# aor. subj.) some of them.

And the multitude of the cities around Jerusalem was also coming together, carrying (the) sick ones and (the) tormenting ones by unclean spirits, who all were being healed.

And having stood up, the high priest and all the ones with him, the being(=which is) sect of Sadducees were filled of(=with) jealousy.

And they laid (their) hands upon(=arrested) the apostles, and put them in public custody.

And an angel of the Lord, during (the) night, having opened the doors of the prison, and having led them out, said.

“Go, and having stood in the temple, speak to the people all the sayings(=matters in Heb.) of this life.”

And having heard, they entered about [the] dawn into the temple and taught. And having come, the high priest and the ones with him called together the council(=Sanhedrin) and all the senate(=Sanhedrin of Jews) of the sons of Israel. And they sent to the jail to be brought them.

But the attendants, having arrived, did not found them in the prison. And having returned, they reported,

saying, “We found the jail having been shut in(# dat. of manner) all security and the guards having stood(# pf. ref. present) at the doors, but having opened we found no one inside.”

And when both the general(=captain of temple guard) of the temple and the high priests heard these words, they were greatly perplexing about them what this might become(# potential opt.).

And having arrived, someone reported to them, “Behold, the men whom you put in the prison, are in the temple standing(# pf. ref. present) and teaching the people.”

Then having gone, the general (of the temple) with the attendants was bringing them, not with force, because they feared the people, lest they might be stoned(# aor. subj. pass.).

And having brought, they made them stand in the council. And the high priest asked them,

saying, “(With) command, have we not commanded (to) you not teach on this name? and behold, you have filled Jerusalem of(=with) your teaching. And you intend to bring upon us the blood of this man.”

And having answered, Peter and the apostles said, “It is right to obey God rather than men.”

“The God of our fathers raised Jesus, whom you laid hands on(=killed) (by) having hung on a tree.”

“God exalted this One a Prince and a Saviour (with) His right (hand) in order to give(# gen. art & inf.: purpose) repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.”

“And we are witnesses of these sayings(=things). And (so is) the Holy Spirit that God gave to the ones obeying him.”

And having heard, they were infuriating and intending to kill them.

And having stood up in the council, a certain Pharisee, Gamaliel by name, teacher of the law, (who was) honored (by) all the people, ordered to do(=put) the men outside (for) a little (time).

And he said (to) them, “Men of Israelites, be careful to yourselves what you are going to do to these men.”

“For before these days, Theudas stood up, saying for himself to be someone, to whom a number of men, about four hundred, was joined, who was killed, and all as many as were obeying him were dispersed and came to nothing.”

“After this, Judas the Galilean stood up in the days of the census, and led people after him in a revolt. And that (man) also perished, and all as many as were obeying him were scattered.”

And in the present things(# acc. of respect), I say (to) you, stand away from these men, and release them. Because, if(# indefinite future condition) this plan or this work may be(# sub.) out of men, it will be broken up.

But if(# real condition) it is(# ind.) out of God, you are not able to break up them; lest you may be found yourselves even fighting against God.

And they were persuaded (by) him. And having called the apostles, having beaten, they commanded not to speak on(=in) the name of Jesus, and released (them).

Therefore they were going, rejoicing from (the) presence of the council because they were deemed worthy to be dishonored on behalf of the name.

And every day in the temple and at each house, they were not stopping teaching and proclaiming Jesus (as) the Christ.
