1 Therefore when the Lord knew that the Pharisees heard that Jesus makes(=was making) more disciples and baptizes(=was baptizing) than John,
2 although Jesus himself was not baptizing, but his disciple,
3 he left [the] Judea and departed again into [the] Galilee.
4 And it was necessary (for) him to pass through [the] Samaria.
5 Therefore he comes into a city of Samaria being called Sychar, near the field that Jacob gave his son Joseph.
6 And there was Jacob’s fountain. [The] Jesus so having tired from the journey was sitting down just at the fountain. It was about the sixth hour.
7 A woman from(=of) [the] Samaria comes to draw water. [The] Jesus says (to) her, “Give me to drink(=a drink).”
8 For his disciples had gone away into the city so that they might buy foods(=to buy food).
9 Then the Samaritan woman says (to) him, “How do you being a Jew ask [to] drink of me being a Samaritan woman?” For Jews do not associate (with) Samaritans.
10 Jesus answered and said (to) her, “If you was knowing(# pluperfect as imperfect) the gift of God and who is the one saying to you, ‘Give me to drink(=a drink),’ you would have ask(# unreal condition) him and he would have given you living water.”
11 The woman says to him, “Sir, you have no bucket and the well is deep. Where then do you have the living water?”
12 “[Not(# expecting the answer “No”)] Are you greater (than) our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, and his sons, and his cattle?”
13 Jesus answered and said (to) her, “Everyone drinking from this water will thirst again.”
14 “But whoever [might] drink of the water which I will give him will never thirst unto the age(=forever), but(=indeed) the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up to eternal life.”
15 The woman says (to) him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I may not thirst, neither may come here to draw.”
16 He says (to) her, “Go and call your husband, and come here.”
17 The woman answered and said (to) him, “I have no husband.” [The] Jesus says (to) her, “You say well, ‘I have no husband,’”
18 “for you have had five husbands, and now he whom you have is not your husband. Truly you have said this.”
19 The woman says (to) him, “Sir, I see that you are a prophet.”
20 “Our fathers worshipped in this mountain, and you (Jews) say that the place where it is necessary to(=we must) worship is in Jerusalem.”
21 [The] Jesus says (to) her, “Believe me, woman, [that] (the) time is coming when you will worship the Father neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem.”
22 “You worship what you don’t know. We worship what we know because the salvation is from the Jews.” 23 “But (the) time is coming, and now is when the true worshippers will worship the Father in Spirit and truth, for the Father also seeks such ones worshipping him.”
24 “[The] God (is) Spirit, and it is necessary (for) the ones worshipping him to worship in Spirit and truth.”
25 The woman says (to) him, “I know that Messiah is coming (who is) being called Christ. When that One [might] comes, he will explain all things to us.”
26 [The] Jesus says (to) her, “I am the One speaking to you.”
27 And on this(=at this point) his disciples came, and were marveling that he was speaking with a woman. Nevertheless no one said, “What do you seek?” or “Why are you speaking with her?”
28 Then the woman left her water jar and went away into the city, and says (to) the men,
29 “Come, see a man who told me all things that I ever did. Is not this the Christ?”
30 They went out of the city and were coming to him.
31 In the meantime, the disciples were asking him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.”
32 But he said (to) them, “I have food to eat that you do not know(# perfect as present).”
33 Then the disciples said (to) each other, “[Not(# expecting the answer ‘No’)] Has anyone bring him (food) to eat?”
34 [The] Jesus says (to) them, “My food is that I might do(=to do) the will of the One having sent me and might accomplish(=to accomplish) his work.”
35 “Do you not say, ‘[that] There is(=are) still four months, and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say (to) you, ‘Lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest.’
36 “The reaping one receives wages and gathers fruit for eternal life, so that the sowing one and the reaping one may rejoice together.”
37 “For in this the word, ‘[that] another(=one) is the sowing one and another (is) the reaping one,’ is true.”
38 “I have sent you to reap what you have not labored. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.”
39 And from that city many of Samaritans believed in him because of the word of woman testifying, “[that] He told me all things that I ever did.”
40 So when the Samaritans came to him, they were asking him to stay with them. And he stayed there two days.
41 And many more believed because of his word.
42 And they were saying to the woman, “[that] We no longer believe because of your saying, for we ourselves have heard and have known that this One is truly the Savior of the world.”
43 And after two days he went out of there into [the] Galilee.
44 For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honor in the(=his) own country
45 So when he came into [the] Galilee, the Galileans received him. Having seen(=They had seen) all things that he did in Jerusalem at the feast, for they also went to the feast.
46 So he came again into [the] Cana of Galilee where he made the water (into) wine. And there was a certain royal official whose son was sick in Capernaum.
47 This (man), having heard that Jesus arrives(=came) from [the] Judea into [the] Galilee, went to him and was asking that he would come down and would cure his son, for he was about to die.
48 So [the] Jesus said (to) him, “Unless you see signs and wonders, you might(=will) never believe.”
49 The royal official says (to) him, “Sir, come down before my child to die(=dies).”
50 [The] Jesus says (to) him, “Go, your son lives(=will live).” The man believed the word that [the] Jesus said (to) him, and was going.
51 And now his going down(=as he was now going down)1, the slaves met him, saying that his son lives(=was living).
52 So he asked [from] them the hour in which(=when) he got better. So they said (to) him, “Yesterday (at) seventh hour the fever left him.”
53 So the father knew that (it was at) that hour in which(=when) [the] Jesus said (to) him, “Your son lives(=will live).” And he and his whole household believed.
54 And this again (was the) second sign [the] Jesus, having come from [the] Judea into [the] Galilee, did
