1 And he also was saying(=said) to the disciples, “There was a [certain] rich man who was having(=had) a steward(=manager), and this (manager) was accused unto him as(=that) wasting(=he was wasting) his possessions.”

2 “And having called him, he said (to) him, ‘What (is) this (that) I hear about you? Give the(=an) account of your stewardship(=management), for you are not able to be steward(=manager) any longer.’”

3 “And the steward(=manager) said in(=to) himself, ‘What shall I do? For my master is taking the stewardship(=management) away from me, I am not strong to dig, I am ashamed to beg.”

4 “I have come to know what I might(=will) do so that, when I am removed(=put) out of the stewardship(=management), they might(=will) welcome me into their house.”

5 “And having called each one of his master’s debtors, he was saying(=said) to the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’”

6 “And he said, ‘A hundred Batos(=about 8 gallons)1 of oil.’ And he said (to) him, ‘Take your bill, and having sat quickly, write fifty.’”

7 “Then he said (to) another, ‘And how much do you owe?’ And he said, ‘A hundred Kors(=10 times of Batos)2 of wheat.’ He says (to) him, ‘Take your bill and write eighty.’”

8 “And the master praised the unrighteous steward(=manager) because he did prudently, for the sons of this age are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light.”

9 “And I say (to) you, make friends (for) yourselves from(=by) the unrighteous mammon(=wealth)3, so that when it [might] fail(=fails), they might(=may) welcome you into the eternal tents(=dwellings).”

10 “The one (who is) faithful in least(=very little) is faithful also in much. And the one (who is) unrighteous in least(=very little) is unrighteous also in much.”

11 “Therefore, if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon(=wealth)4, who will entrust the true (riches) to you?”

12 “And if you have not been faithful in the thing belonging to another, who will give you the thing of your own?”

13 “No house-servant is able to serve two masters, for he will hate the one and he will love the other, or he will be devoted to (the) one and he will despise the other. You are not able to serve God and mammon(=wealth)5.”

14 And the Pharisees being(=who were) lovers of money were hearing all these, and they were scoffing at him.

15 And he said (to) them, “You are the ones justifying yourselves before [the] men, but God knows your hearts; for the thing (which is) high(=highly esteemed) in(=among) men (is) an abomination before [the] God(=in the sight of God).”

16 “The law and the prophets (were) until John. Since then(=that time), the kingdom of God is being preached, [and] everyone is pressing into it.”

17 “But it is easier (for) [the] heaven and [the] earth to pass away than (for) one Keraia(=little horn)6 of the law to fall.”

18 “Anyone divorcing his wife and marrying another (woman) commits adultery, and the one marrying (a woman) having been divorced from (her) husband commits adultery.”

19 “And there was a [certain] rich man, and he was wearing(=clothed) in purple and fine linen, making merry sumptuously everyday.”

20 “And a [certain] beggar, Lazarus by name, had been(=was) laid at his gate, having been covered with sores,”

21 “and desiring to be satisfied from the things falling from the rich man’s table. But even the dogs, coming, were licking his sores.”

22 “And it happened (for) the beggar to die and [him] to be carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom. And the rich man also died and was buried.”

23 “And in the Hades(=hell), having lifted up his eyes, being in torture, he sees Abraham from a distance(=far away) and Lazarus in his bosoms.”

24 “And he, having called out, said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus that he might(=may) dip the tip of his finger (in) water and might(=may) cool my tongue, for I am tormented in this flame.’”

25 “And Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that you received your good things in your life, and Lazarus likewise (received) the bad things. But now he is comforted here, but you are tormented.’”

26 “And in all these things(=beside all this), between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that the ones wishing to pass from here to you may not be able, and (none) may cross from there to us.”

27 “And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, that you would send him to my father’s house.‘”

28 “for I have five brothers, so that he may warn them, lest they also [might] come to this place of torment.”

29 “And Abraham says, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’”

30 “And he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone from (the) dead [might] goes to them, they will repent.’”

31 “And he said (to) him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone [might] rises from the dead.’”
