1 And it happened in the him to go(=as he went) into (the) house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees to eat bread (on) a Sabbath, [and] (that) they were watching(# periphrastic imperfect) him closely.
2 And behold, there was a certain man with dropsy before him.
3 And [the] Jesus, having answered, said (to) the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, “Is it lawful to heal (on) the Sabbath, or not?”
4 And they kept silent. And he, having taken (him), healed him and let (him) go.
5 And he said (to) them, “Which of you, (having) a son or an ox (that) will fall(=falls) into a well, [and] will not immediately pull him(=it) out on (the) day of Sabbath?”
6 And they were not able to reply to these things.
7 And he was saying a parable to the ones having been invited, noticing how they were choosing the chief seats, saying to them,
8 “When you might be called(=are invited) by someone to a wedding feast, do not recline(=sit down) in the chief seat, lest a more honorable (man) than you [may] be [having been] invited by him.”
9 “And the one having invited you and him, having come, will say (to) you, ‘Give place to this man.’ And then you will begin with shame to take the lowest place.”
10 “But when you might be called(=are invited), having gone, recline(=sit down) in the lowest place, so that the one having invited you [might] comes and will say (to) you, ‘Friend, go up higher.’ Then there will be honor (to) you in the presence of all the ones reclining(=sitting at table) with you.”
11 “For everyone who exalting himself will be humbled, and the one humbling himself will be exalted.”
12 And he was saying also to the one having invited him, “When you may make(=give) a lunch or dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also might(=may) invite you back, and it (will) be a recompence to you.”
13 “But when you may make(=give) a feast, invite (the) poor, (the) maimed, (the) lame, (the) blind.”
14 “And you will be blessed, for they have not(=are not able) to repay you, because it will be repaid to you in(=at) the resurrection of the righteous.”
15 And having heard these things, a certain (man) of the ones reclining with(=sitting at table) said (to) him, “Blessed (is he) who will eat bread in the kingdom of God.”
16 And he said (to) him, “A certain man was making(=preparing) a great dinner and invited many.”
17 “And he sent his slave (at) the time of the dinner to say to the ones having been invited, ‘Come, for it(=everything) is now ready.’”
18 “And they all from one(=alike) began to make excuses. The first said (to) him, ‘I have bought a field, and I have necessity(=must), having gone, [to] see it. I ask you, have me [having been] excused.’”
19 “And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to test them. I ask you, have me [having been] excused.’”
20 “And another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I am not able to go.’”
21 “And the slave, having come, reported these things to his lord. Then the householder, having been angry, said (to) his slave, ‘Go out quickly to the streets and alleys of the city, and bring in here the poor and the maimed and the blind and lame.’”
22 “And the slave said, ‘Lord, what you commanded has been done, and there is still room.’”
23 “And the lord said (to) the slave, ‘Go out to the ways and hedges(=paths), and compel (them) to come in, so that my house might(=may) be filled.’”
24 “For I say (to) you that none of those men having been invited shall taste my dinner.”
25 And many crowds were coming(=traveling) with him. And he said, having been turned, to them.
26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.”
27 “Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me, is not able to be my disciple.”
28 “For which of you, wishing to build a tower, does not having sit first(=first sit down and) count the cost if he has for completion(=enough money to complete it)?”
29 “That lest(=If)1 his having laid(=he has laid)2 a foundation (and) (his) not being able(=he is not able)3 to finish, all (who are) seeing (it) [might] begin to laugh at him,”
30 “saying, ‘this man began to build and was not able to finish.’”
31 “Or what king, going to encounter another king in war, will not having sit first(=first sit down) (and) consider whether he is [being] able in(=with) ten thousand to meet the one coming against him with twenty thousand?”
32 “If not(=If he is not able), yet his being at a distance(=while the other is still a long way), having sent a delegation, he asks things for peace(=terms of peace).”
33 “So therefore, any of you who does not renounce all his own being(=things that he has) is not able to be my disciple.”
34 “[Therefore the] Salt (is) good, but if even the salt [might be] lost its taste, in what(=how) shall it be seasoned?”
35 “It is fit neither for (the) land nor for (the) manure. They throw it outside. The one having ears to hear, let him hear!”
