1 And there were some at the same time (who are) telling him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate mixed with their sacrifices.

2 And having answered, he said (to) them, “Do you think that these Galileans were (worse) sinners over(=than) all the (other) Galileans, because they have suffered these things?”

3 “I say (to) you, No; but unless you [may] repent, you will all likewise perish.”

4 “Or those eighteen upon whom the tower in [the] Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were (worse) debtors(=sinners)1 over(=than) all the (other) men living (in) Jerusalem?”

5 “I say (to) you, No; but unless you [may] repent, you will all likewise perish.”

6 And he was saying this parable, “a certain man was having(=had) a fig tree having been planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit in(=on) it, and did not find (any).”

7 “And he said (to) the vinedresser, ‘Behold, (for) three years [from which] I (have) come seeking fruit in this fig tree, And I haven’t found (any). Cut it down! Why does it use up the ground too?

8 “And he, having answered, says (to) him, ‘Lord, leave it this year also, until I [might] dig around it and [might] put manure.’”

9 “And if it indeed [might] bears fruit in the next (year), (fine!) But if not, you will(=can) cut it down.”

10 And he was teaching(# periphrastic imperfect) in one of synagogues in the Sabbaths(=on a Sabbath)

11 And behold, a woman, having a spirit of infirmity (for) eighteen years, [and] was bending over(# periphrastic imperfect) and not being able(# periphrastic imperfect) to straighten up at all.

12 And having seen her, [the] Jesus called (her) and said (to) her, “Woman, you have been freed(=are set free) from your infirmity.”

13 And he put the(=his) hands (upon) her, and immediately she has been straightened(=was made straight), and she glorified [the] God.

14 But having answered, the synagogue ruler, being angry because [the] Jesus healed (on) the Sabbath, was saying to the crowd, “[that] There are six days on which (work) ought to be done; therefore coming in them,(=come on those days and) be healed, and not (on) the day of the Sabbath.”

15 And the Lord answered him and said, “Hypocrites! Does not each of you (on) the Sabbath loose(=untie) his ox or the(=his) donkey from the stall, and having led it away, give drink(=lead it away to water it)?”

16 “And ought not this (woman), being a daughter of Abraham, whom [the] Satan bound [behold] (for) ten and eight years(=eighteen years), to be loosed from this bond (on) the day of the Sabbath?”

17 And his saying(=as he said)2 these things, all the ones opposing him were [being] ashamed. And all the crowd were rejoicing over(=at) all the glorious things being done by him.

18 Therefore he was saying, “[To] What is the kingdom of God like? And to what might(=shall) I compare it?”

19 “It is like a seed of mustard, which a man, having taken, threw(=sowed) into his garden. And it grew and became(=turned) into a tree. And the birds of the sky(=air) nested in its branches.”

20 And again he said, “To what might(=shall) I compare the kingdom of God?”

21 “It is like leaven, which a woman, having taken, hid into three sata(=measures)3 of flour, until it was all leavened.”

22 And he was going through [throughout, (# distributive)] cities and villages, teaching and making journey(=journeying) toward Jerusalem.

23 And someone said (to) him, “Lord, [if (# introducing a direct question)] are there few being saved(=who are saved)?” And he said (to) them,

24 “Strive to enter through narrow door; for many, I say (to) you, will seek to enter and will not be able.”

25 “From (the time) when the householder [might] be(=is) risen and [might] shuts the door, [and] you [might] begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying ‘Lord, open to us.’ And he, having answered, will say (to) you, ‘I don’t know you where you are(=come from).’

26 “Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate before you and drank, and in the streets you taught us.’

27 “And he will say, saying to you, ‘I don’t know you where you are(=come from). Keep away from me, all (you) workers of unrighteousness! ’

28 “There will be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth, when you will see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you being thrown out outside.”

29 “And they will come from east and west and from north and south, and they will recline(=sit at table) in the kingdom of God.”

30 “And behold, there are last who will be first, and there are first who will be last.”

31 In the same hour, some Pharisees came, saying to him, “Depart and go from here, for Herod wants to kill you.”

32 And he said (to) them, “Having gone, tell that fox, ‘Behold, I drive out demons and accomplish(=perform) cures today and tomorrow, and (on) the third (day) I am(=shall be) perfected.’”

33 “Nevertheless it is necessary (for) me to go today and tomorrow and (on) the following (day), for it is not possible (for) a prophet to perish outside Jerusalem.”

34(O) Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one killing the prophets and stoning the ones having been sent to her(=you)! How often I wanted to gather your children together, (in the) manner which(=as) a hen (gathers) her brood under the(=her) wings, but you did not want.”

35 “Behold, your house is left (to) you. And I say (to) you, you might(=will) not see me until (the time) will come when you say, ‘Blessed (is) the one coming in (the) name of (the) Lord.’”
