1 And it happened, in the him to be praying(=as he was praying) in a certain place, when he ceased, that a certain one of his disciples said (to) him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”
2 And he said (to) them, “When you pray, say, ‘Father, let your name be hallowed, let your kingdom come.’”
3 “Give us our daily bread the by day(=each day).”
4 “And forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive everyone owing(=indebted) to us. And lead us not into temptation.”
5 And he said (to) them, “Which of you will have(=Suppose one of you has)1 a friend and will go to him at midnight and [might] say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves,’”
6 “because a friend of mine arrived(=came) to me from(=on) a journey, and I have not what(=nothing that) I will set before him.”
7 “And that one, having answered from inside, [might] says, ‘Do not cause me troubles(=Don’t bother me). The door has been already shut, and my children are with me in [the] bed. I am not able, having gotten up, to give you.’”
8 “I say (to) you, ‘Though he will not give him, having gotten up,(=he will not get up and give him anything) because of to be his friend(=because he is his friend), (yet) because of his persistence, having risen, he will give him as many as he needs.”
9 And I say (to) you, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you.”
10 “For everyone (who is) asking receives; and the one (who is) seeking finds; and to the one (who is) knocking it will be opened.”
11 “And what father among you will, (if) the(=his) son will ask(=asks) for a fish, will give him a serpent instead of a fish?”
12 “Or also (if) he will ask(=asks) for an egg, will he give him a scorpion?”
13 “Therefore if you being evil know (how) to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father from(=in) heaven give (the) Holy Spirit to those asking him!”
14 And he was casting out(# periphrastic imperfect) a demon, and it was2 dumb. And happened, the demon’s having gone out(=when the demon had gone out)3, (that) the dumb (man) spoke. And the crowds marvelled.
15 And some of them said, “In(=By) Beelzebub, the prince of [the] demons, he casts out [the] demons.”
16 And others, testing (him), were seeking from him a sign from heaven.
17 And he, having known their thoughts, said (to) them, “Every kingdom having been divided against itself is ruined. And a house (divided) against a house falls.”
18 “And if [the] Satan also was divided against himself, how will his kingdom be stood(=stand)? For you say, me to cast out(=that I cast out) [the] demons in(=by) Beelzebub.”
19 “And if I cast out [the] demons in(=by) Beelzebub, in(=by) whom do your sons cast (them) out? Therefore they will be your judges.”
20 “But if I cast out [the] demons in(=by) (the) finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.”
21 “When the(=a) strong man, having been fully armed, [may] guards his own palace, his possessions are in peace(=safe).”
22 “But when one stronger (than) he, having come upon(=attacked), [might] overcomes him, he takes away his armor in which he [had] trusted, and divides his spoils.”
23 “The one not being with me is against me, and the one not gathering with me scatters.”
24 “When the unclean spirit [might] goes out of the(=a) man, it goes through waterless places, seeking rest; and not finding, it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’”
25 “And having come, it finds (the house) having been swept and having been put in order.”
26 “The it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked (than) itself; and having entered, they dwell there. And the last things(=the last state) of that man becomes worse (than) the first things(=the first state).”
27 And it happened, in the him to say(=as he said) these things, (that) a certain woman from the crowd, having raised (her) voice, said (to) him, “Blessed (is) the womb having borne you, and (the) breasts that you sucked.”
28 But he said, “Blessed rather (are) the ones hearing the word of God and keeping (it)!”
29 And the crowds’ increasing(=as the crowds increased)4, he began to say, “This generation is a wicked generation. It seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of Jonah.”
30 “For as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so also will the Son of Man be to this generation.”
31 “(The) queen of (the) south will be risen in(=at) the judgment with the men of this generation and will condemn them; for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon. And behold, a greater (than) Solomon (is) here.”
32 “(The) men of Ninevites will stand up in(=at) the judgment with this generation and will condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, a greater (than) Jonah (is) here.”
33 “No one, having lit a lamp, puts (it) in a secret (place) nor(=or) under the(=a) bushel, but on the(=a) lampstand, that the ones entering may see the light.”
34 “The lamp of the body is your eye, when your eye may be(=is) single(=clear), your whole body also is full of light. But when it may be(=is) bad, your body also (is) dark.”
35 “Therefore watch lest the light in you is not darkness.”
36 “Therefore if your whole body is full of light, not having any part dark, (the) whole will be full of light as when the lamp (with) the(=its) ray [may] shines (on) you.”
37 And in the him to speak(=when he spoke)5, a Pharisee asks (him) that he would dine with him. And having entered, he reclined(=sat) (at table).
38 But the Pharisee, having seen that he did not first wash before the dinner, marvelled.
39 And the Lord said (to) him, “Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and the dish, but the inside of you is full of greed and wickedness.”
40 “You foolish (men)! Did not the One having made the outside make the inside also?”
41 “But give (for) alms the things being inside; and behold, all things are clean for you.”
42 “But woe (to) you Pharisees! for you tithe [the] mint and [the] rue and every herb, and neglect the justice and the love of God. But it was required to do these things and not to neglect those things.”
43 “Woe (to) you Pharisees! for you love the best seat in the synagogues and the greetings in the marketplaces.”
44 “Woe to you! for you are like the unmarked tombs, and the men walking over (them) do not know (them).”
45 And having answered, one of the lawyers say to him, “Teacher, saying these things, you insult us also.”
46 And he said, “Woe (to) you lawyers, for you load men (with) burdens hard to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens (with) one of your fingers.”
47 “Woe to you, for you build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.”
48 “So you are witnesses and you approve the deeds of your fathers; for they killed them, and you build their tombs.”
49 “Therefore also the Wisdom of God said, ‘I will send to them prophets and apostles, and (some) of them(=whom) they will kill and persecute,’”
50 “that the blood of all prophets having been shed from the foundation of (the) world might(=may) be required from(=of) this generation,”
51 “from (the) blood of Abel to (the) blood of Zechariah having perished between the alter and the house(=sanctuary). Yes, I say (to) you, it shall be required from this generation.”
52 “Woe (to) you lawyers! for you took away the key of knowledge. You yourself have not enter and you have hindered the entering ones.”
53 And from there his having gone out(=as he went away from there)6, the scribes and the Pharisees began to be fiercely angry and to question him about many things,
54 lying in wait for him, to catch at something out of his mouth.
