1 And having called the twelve together, he gave them power and authority over all demons and to heal diseases,
2 and he sent them to proclaim the kingdom of God and to cure,
3 and he said (to) them, “Take nothing for the way(=journey), no staff, nor bag, nor bread, nor silver(=money), nor(=and do not) [to] have [each] two tunics.”
4 “And whatever house you [might] enter, stay there and depart from there.”
5 “And If many may not receive you, going out from that city, shake off the dust from your feet for(=as) a testimony against them.”
6 And going out, they were going through the villages, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.
7 And Herod the tetrarch(=governor) heard (of) all (that was) happening, and he was being in perplexity because of the thing to be said by some that John had been raised from (the) dead,
8 and by some that Elijah appeared, and (by) others that one [prophet] of the old (prophets) had risen again.
9 And Herod said, “I beheaded John. But who is this about whom I hear such things?” And he was seeking(=wanted) to see him.
10 And having returned, the apostles told him what they had done. And having taken with them, he withdrew privately to (the) city called Bethsaida.
11 And the crowds, having learned, followed him. And having welcomed them, he was speaking to them about the kingdom of God, and he was curing the ones having need of healing.
12 And the day began to wear away. And the twelve, having approached, said (to) him, “Send the crowd away, that they, having gone into the around(=surrounding) villages and farms(=country), might(=may) lodge and might(=may) find provisions(=food), because we are here in a desert place.”
13 And he said (to) them, “You, give them (something) to eat.” And they said, “(Here) is not to us(=we have no) more (than) five loaves and two fish, unless we, having gone, [might] buy food for all these people.”
14 For there were about five thousand men. And he said (to) his disciples, “Make them recline(=sit down) (in) groups, about fifty each.”
15 And they did so, and they made them all recline(=sit down).
16 And having taken the five loaves and the two fish, having looked up to [the] heaven, he blessed them and broke. And he was giving (them) to the disciples to set before the crowd.
17 And they all ate and were satisfied. And twelve baskets of broken pieces having been(=that were) left over were collected to them.
18 And it happened, in the him to be(=as he was)1 praying alone, (that) the disciples were with him. And he asked them, saying, “Who do the crowds say me to be(=that I am)?”
19 And they, having answered, said, “John the Baptist, but others (say) Elijah, but others (say) [that] one [prophet] of the old (prophets) had risen again.”
20 And he said (to) them, “And who do you say me to be(=that I am)?” And Peter, having answered, said, “The Christ of God.”
21 And he, having strictly warned them, commanded (them) to tell this to no one,
22 having said, “[that] it is necessary (for) the Son of Man to suffer many things, and to be rejected from(=by) the elders, [and] high priests, and scribes, and to be killed, and (on) the third day to be raised.”
23 And he was saying to all, “If anyone want to come after me, let him deny himself, and let him take up his cross daily, and let him follow me.”
24 “For whoever [might] wants to save his life will lose it. But whoever [might] loses his life for my sake, this one will save it.”
25 “For what is a man benefited(=what good is it to a man), having gained(=to gain) the whole world, and having lost or forfeited(=if he lose and forfeit) himself?”
26 “For whoever might be ashamed of(=is ashamed of) me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of this one(=him), when he [might] comes in his glory and (in the glory) of the Father and of the holy angels.”
27 “And I say (to) you truly, there are some of the ones standing(# perfect as present) here(# not pronoun but adverb), who might(=will) not taste death until they [might] see the kingdom of God.”
28 And it happened about eight days after these sayings, [and] having taken Peter and John and James, (that) he went up onto the mountain to pray.
29 And in him to pray(=as he was praying)2, the appearance of his face became different, and his clothes (became) white (and) dazzling.
30 And behold, two men were talking with him, who were Moses and Elijah,
31 who, having appeared in glory, were speaking of his departure, that he was about to accomplish in Jerusalem.
32 But [the] Peter and the ones with him were [having been] heavy (with) sleep. But having wakened, they saw his glory and two men standing with(# perfect as present) him.
33 And it happened, in the them to depart(=as they were leaving)3 from him, (that) [the] Peter said (to) [the] Jesus, “Master, it is good (for) us to be here. And let us make three tents: one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah,” not knowing(# perfect as present) what he says.
34 And his saying(=as he said)4 these things, a cloud came and were overshadowing them. And they were afraid in them to enter(=as they entered)5 [into] the cloud.
35 And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my [having been] chosen Son; listen to him.”
36 And in the voice to be done(=when the voice was done)6, Jesus was found alone. And they were silent and told no one in those days anything of what they had seen.
37 And it happened (on) the next day, their having come down(=when they came down)7 from the mountain, (that) a large crowd met him.
38 And behold, a man from the crowd cried, saying, “Teacher, I beg you to look at my son, for he is only child to me.”
39 “And behold, a spirit takes him, and he suddenly screams, and it convulses him with foam, and it scarcely departs from him, bruising him.”
40 “And I begged your disciples that they would cast it out, and they were not able.”
41 And having answered [the] Jesus said, “O unbelieving and [having been] perverted generation, until when(=how long) shall I be with you and bear (with) you? Bring your son here.”
42 And his coming(=as he was coming)8, the demon threw him and convulsed (him). But [the] Jesus rebuked the uncleaned spirit, and healed the boy and gave him back to his father.
43 And they were all amazed at the greatness of God. And all marvelling(=while they were all marvelling)9 at all things that he were doing, he said (to) his disciples.
44 “Put in your ears(=Listen to) these sayings; for son of Man is about to be delivered into (the) hands of men.”
45 But they were not knowing this word. And it was [having been] concealed from them, so that they might(=did) not understand it. And they feared to ask him about [the] this saying.
46 And an argument entered(=arose) among them as to which of them would be(# optative) the greater(=the greatest).
47 And [the] Jesus, having known the argument in their heart, having taken a child, had him stand beside him.
48 And he said (to) them, “Whoever [might] receives this child on(=in) my name receives me; and whoever [might] receives me receives the one having sent me; for the one being the smaller(=least) among you all is this one (who is) great.”
49 And having answered, [the] John said, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in your name and we were stopping(=tried to stop) him, because he does not follow with us.”
50 And Jesus said (to) him, “Do not stop him, for he who is not against you is for you.”
51 And it happened, [in] the to be fulfilled the days of his assumption(=when the days drew near for him to be taken up), [and] (that) he set the face to go toward Jerusalem.
52 And he sent messengers before his face(=ahead of him). And having gone, they went into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.
53 And they did not receive him, because his face was going toward(=he was heading for) Jerusalem.
54 And having seen, the(=his) disciples James and John said, “Lord, do you want that we might command(=us to command) fire to come down from [the] heaven and to destroy them?”
55 And having turned, he rebuked them.
56 And they went to another village.
57 And their going(=as they went)10 in the way, a man said (to) him, “I will follow you wherever you [may] go.”
58 And [the] Jesus said (to) him, “the foxes have holes and the birds of the heaven(=air) (have) nests, but the Son of Man does not have where he may lay the(=his) head.”
59 And he said (to) another, “Follow me.” But he said, “Allow me first going(=to go) (and) to bury my father.”
60 And he said (to) him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you, having gone, proclaim the kingdom of God.”
61 And another also said, “I will follow you, Lord, but first allow me to say farewell to the ones in my house.”
62 And [the] Jesus said (to) him, “No one having put the(=his) hand to (the) plow and looking at the things behind is fit for the kingdom of God.”
