1 And he began to speak to them in parables. “A man planted a vineyard, and set a hedge around (it), and dug (a pit for the) winepress, and built a tower, and leased it to farmers, and went away on a journey.”
2 “And he sent a slave to the farmers (at) the season, that he might receive from the farmers (some) of the fruits of the vineyard.”
3 “And having taken him, they beat and sent (him) away empty(=empty-handed).”
4 “And again he sent to them another slave. And they wounded that one in the head and insulted.”
5 “And he sent another, and they killed that one. And (he sent) many others; either whom beating(=some they beat) or whom killing(=others they killed).”
6 “He was having(=had) still one, a beloved son. Finally he sent him to them, saying ‘They will respect my son.’”
7 “But those farmers said to(=among) themselves, ‘[that] This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’”
8 “And having taken, they killed him. And they threw him out of the vineyard.”
9 “What then will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and will destroy the farmers, and will give the vineyard (to) others.”
10 “Didn’t you read this Scripture? ‘A stone which the building ones(=builders) rejected, the same has become (stone) for the head of the corner.’
11 ‘This was from (the) Lord. And it is marvelous in our eyes.’?”
12 And they were seeking(=wanted) to arrest him. And they feared the crowd. For they knew that he said(=had spoken) the parable against them. And having left him, they went away.
13 And they send to him some of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, that they might catch him (in) word(=his words).
14 And having come, they say to him, “Teacher, we know that you are true(=sincere) and (anything) about anyone does not matter (to) you. For you do not look at face of men(=do not regard the person of men), but you teach in truth the way of God. Is it lawful to give taxes to Caesar, or not?
15 Might(=Shall) we pay, or might(=shall) we not pay?” But having known(# perfect participle) their hypocrisy, he said (to) them, “Why do you test me? Bring me a denarius(=small silver coin) that I might see (it).”
16 And they brought (one). And he says (to) them, “Whose (is) this image and inscription?” And they said (to) him, “Caesar’s.”
17 Then [the] Jesus said (to) them, “Render (to) Caesar the things (that are) Caesar’s, and to [the] God the things (that are) God’s.” And they were marveling(=marveled) at him.
18 And (the) Sadducees come to him, who say resurrection not to be(=that there is no resurrection. And they were asking him and saying,
19 “Teacher, Moses wrote to us that if someone’s(=a man’s) brother [might] dies and [might] leaves (his) wife and [might] leaves no child, his brother should take the(=his) wife and [might] raise up seed(=child) (for) his brother.”
20 “There were seven brothers. And the first one took a wife. And dying, he left no seed(=child).”
21 “And the second took her. And he died leaving no seed(=children). And the third likewise.”
22 “And the seven left no seed(=child). Last of all the woman also died.”
23 “In the resurrection, when they [might] resurrect, whose wife of them will she be? For the seven had her (as) wife.”
24 [The] Jesus was saying (to) them, “Are you not therefore in error, having known(=because you know)1 neither the Scriptures nor the power of God?”
25 “For when they [might] resurrect from (the) dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage. But they are as angels in the heavens(=in heaven).”
26 “And about the dead (ones), that they are raised, have you not read in the book of Moses, in (the story about) the bush, how God said (to) him, saying, ‘I (am) the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’?”
27 “He is not the God of (the) dead (ones), but of (the) living (ones). You are greatly wrong.”
28 And having come, one of the scribes, having heard them debating, having seen that he answered(=had answered) them well, asked him, “What is (the) first commandment of all?”
29 [The] Jesus answered, “[that] (The) first is, ‘Hear, O Israel, (The) Lord our God, (the) is one Lord.’”
30 “And you shall love (the) Lord your God from(=with) all your heart and from(=with) all your soul and from(=with) all your mind and from(=with) all your strength.”
31 “(The) second (is) this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
32 And the scribe said (to) him. “Well(=You are right), Teacher. You said(=have said) about (the) truth(=truly) that He is One, and there is no other but Him.”
33 “And [the] to love Him from(=with) all heart and from(=with) all intelligence and from(=with) all strength, and [the] to love the(=his) neighbor as himself is more (important) than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
34 And [the] Jesus, having seen him that he answered intelligently, said (to) him. “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And no one was daring(=dared) [to] ask him any more.
35 And having answered, [the] Jesus was saying, (while he was) teaching in the temple, “How do the scribes say that the Christ is (the) son of David?”
36 David himself said in(=by) the Holy Spirit, “(The) Lord said (to) my Lord, ‘Sit at my right hand until I [might] put your enemies under your feet.’”
37 “David himself calls him Lord. And how is he his son?” And the large crowd were hearing him gladly.
38 And in his teaching, he was saying, “Beware of the scribes wishing(=loving) to walk around in long robes about and (loving) greetings in the marketplaces,”
39 “and (loving) (the) best seats in the synagogues and (the) best places in the dinners(=at banquets),”
40 “the ones(=who) devouring widows’ houses and praying long for a show, these will receive greater condemnation.”
41 And having sat opposite the treasury, he was watching how the crowd put money into the treasury. And many rich men were putting in much.
42 And having come, one poor widow put in two lepton(=small coins), which is a quadrans(=1/4).
43 And having called his disciples, he said (to) them, “Truly I say (to) you, [that] this poor widow put in more than all the ones(=those) putting into the treasury.”
44 “For they all put in out of abounding to them(=their abundance), but this (widow) put in out of her poverty all that she was having, her whole living.”
