1 And when they draw near to Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of the Olives, he sends two of his disciples.
2 And he says (to) them, “Go to the village opposite you. And immediately entering into it, you will find a colt having been tied on which none of men ever sat. Loose(=Untie) it and bring (it).”
3 “And if anyone [might] says (to) you, ‘Why do you this?’ say, ‘The Lord has need of it. And immediately he will send(# present as future) it again(=back) here.’”
4 And they went and found a colt having been tied(# perfect as present) at door outside on(=in) the street. And they loose(=untie) it.
5 And some of the ones having stood(# perfect as present) there were saying (to) them, “What are you doing, loosing(=untying) the colt?”
6 And they said (to) them as [the] Jesus said. And they let them (go).
7 And they bring the colt to [the] Jesus. And they throw their garments on it. And he sat on it.
8 And many spread their garments in(=on) the road. And others (spread) leafy branches, having cut (them) from the fields.
9 And the ones going before and the ones following were crying out(=were shouting), “Hosanna! Blessed (is) the one coming in the name of the Lord!”
10 “Blessed (is) the coming kingdom of our father, David! Hosanna in the highest!”
11 And he entered into Jerusalem, into the temple. And having looked around at all things, the hour being already late(=as it was already late), he went out to Bethany with the twelve.
12 And (on) the morrow(=next day), their having come out(=when they come)1 from Bethany, he was hungry.
13 And having seen [from] afar a fig tree having leaves, he went, if perhaps he will(=would) find something on it. And having come to it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the time of figs.
14 And having answered, he said (to) it, “May no one eat(# aorist optative) fruit from you anymore for ever.” And his disciples were hearing (it).
15 And they come to Jerusalem. And having entered into the temple, he began to drive out the ones selling and the ones buying in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of the ones selling the doves.
16 And he was not allowing(=would not allow) that anyone might carry(=anyone to carry) a vessel(=anything) through the temple.
17 And he was teaching and was saying (to) them, “Was it not written(# perfect passive), ‘[that] My house shall be called a house of prayer (for) all nations? But you have made it a den of robbers.’”
18 And the high priests and the scribes heard, and were seeking how they might destroy him. For they were fearing him because all the crowd was being astonished at his teaching.
19 And when it became late(=evening came), they were going out of the city.
20 And passing by early(=in the morning), they saw the fig tree having been withered from the roots.
21 And having remembered, [the] Peter says (to) him, “Rabbi, behold, the fig tree that you cursed has been withered(=has withered).”
22 And having answered, [the] Jesus says (to) them, “Have faith in God.”
23 “Truly I say (to) you, [that] whoever [might] says (to) this mountain, ‘Be taken up, and be cast into the sea,’ and might(=does) not doubt in his heart but [may] believes that what he says happens, it will be (done for) him.”
24 “Therefore, I say (to) you, whatever you pray and ask, believe that you received (them), and it will be (for) you.”
25 “And whenever you stand(# perfect as present) praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father in [the] heavens might also forgive you your trespasses.”
26 (But if you do not forgive, your father in [the] heavens will not forgive your trespasses.)
27 And they come again to Jerusalem. And his walking(=while he was walking)2 in the temple, the high priests, [and] the scribes, and the elders come to him.
28 And they were saying (to) him, “By what authority are you doing these things? Or who gave you this authority that you may do(=to do) these things?”
29 And Jesus said (to) them, “I will ask you one word(=question). And answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.”
30 “Was the baptism of John from heaven, or from men? Answer me.”
31 And they were discussing with themselves, saying, “If we [might] say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Then Why did you not believe him?’”
32 “But if we [might] say, ‘From men?,’ …” They were fearing the crowd. For all were considering [the] John, that he was really a prophet.
33 And having answered to [the] Jesus, they say, “We do not know.” And [the] Jesus says (to) them, “Neither (will) I tell you by what authority I do these things.”
