(=alt.word)  ·  (added word)  ·  [omit]

It came to pass when [the] Jesus finished all these words, he said1 to his disciples,

“You know that after two days is the passover. And the Son of Man is delivered [for] to be crucified.”

Then the high priests and the elders of the people were gathered in the courtyard of the high priest called Caiaphas.

And they consulted together that they might arrest [the] Jesus by deceit and might kill.

And they were saying, “Not in(=on) the feast, lest a riot might not happen among the people.”

And Jesus’ being(=when Jesus was)2 in Bethany, in (the) house of Simon the leper.

A woman came to him, having(=with) an alabaster jar of very expensive ointment, and poured on his head, (as he was) reclining (at table).

And the disciples, having seen (it), was indignant, saying, “To what (purpose is) this waste?”

“For this could be sold for much (money) and be given to (the) poor.”

And having known, [the] Jesus said (to) them, “Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a good work for me.”

“For you have the poor always with you, but you do not have(=will not have) me always.”

“For this (woman), having poured this ointment on my body, did it to prepare me for burial.”

“Truly I say (to) you, wherever this gospel [might] is preached in all the world, what this (woman) did will be told for a memorial of her.”

Then one of the twelve, (who was) called Judas Iscariot, having gone(=went) to the high priests.

He said, “What are you willing to give me, and I will deliver him to you?” And they established(=paid) to him thirty piece of silver.

And from then he was seeking opportunity that he might deliver him.

And on the first (day of the Feast) of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to [the] Jesus, saying, “Where do you want that we might prepare for you to eat the Passover?”

And he said, “Go into the city to a certain man and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, my time is near. To you(=At your house) I do(=will keep)3 the Passover with my disciples.’”

And the disciples did as [the] Jesus directed them, and they prepared the Passover.

And evening’s having come(=when evening came)4, he was reclining with the twelve.

And their eating(=when they were eating)5, he said, “Truly I say (to) you, that one of you will deliver me.”

And being very sad, they began to say to him one after another, “Is [not, # expecting ‘No’] it I, Lord?”

And he, having answered, said, “The one having dipped with me the(=his) hand in the dish will deliver me.”

“Indeed the Son of Man goes as it has been written concerning him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is delivered. It would have been good for him if that man had not been born.”

And having answered, Judas who delivering(=betrayed) him said, “Is [not, # expecting ‘No’] it I, Rabbi?” He says (to) him,“You have said.”

And their eating(=as they were eating)6, [the] Jesus, having taken a loaf and having blessed, broke. And having given to the disciples, he said, “Take, eat. This is my body.”

And having taken a cup and having given thanks, he gave to them, saying, “Drink from it, all (of you).”

“For this is my blood of covenant, being shed for many for forgiveness of sins.”

And I say (to) you, “I might(=will) not drink of this fruit of the vine from now until that day when I drink it new with you in the kingdom of my Father.”

And having sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives

Then [the] Jesus says (to) them, “All of you will fall away in(=because of)7 me [in] this night. For it has been written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’”

“But after (for) me to be risen, I will go before you to [the] Galilee.”

And having answered, [the] Peter said (to) him,“If all [shall] fall away in(=because of)8 you, I will never fall away.”

[The] Jesus was saying to him, “Truly I say (to) you, that [in] this night, before (for) a cock to crow, you will deny me three times.”

[The] Peter says (to) him, “Even if it must be (for) me to die with you, I will never deny you.” Likewise all the disciples also said.

Then [the] Jesus comes with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he says (to) the disciples, “Sit here(# genitive as adverb) while I, having gone out, [might] pray there.”

And having taken [the] Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and [to] (be) troubled.

Then he says (to) them, “My soul is very sorrowful, (even) to death. Stay here and watch with me.”

And having gone a little farther, he fell on his face, praying and saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me. But not as I will but as you (will).”

And he comes to the disciples and finds them sleeping. And he says (to) [the] Peter, “So, were you not able to watch with me one hour?”

“Watch and pray, lest you might enter into temptation. The spirit indeed (is) willing but the flesh (is) weak.”

Again [from] a second time having gone, he prayed, saying, “My Father, if this is not able to pass unless I might drink it, let your will be done.”

And having come again, he found them sleeping, for their eyes were [having been] heavy.

And having left them, having gone again, he prayed [from] the third time, having said the same word again.

Then he comes to the disciples and says (to) them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour has been at hand. And the Son of Man is delivered into (the) hands of sinners.”

“Rise, let us go. Behold, the one delivering me has been at hand.”

“And still his speaking(=while he was still speaking)9, behold, Judas, one of the twelve came, and with him a large crowd with swords and clubs from the high priests and elders of the people (were).

And the one delivering him gave them a sign, saying, “Whomever I [might] kiss, that is he. Arrest him.”

And immediately having come to [the] Jesus, he said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” And he kissed him.

But Jesus said (to) him, “Friend, on what you are here(=why are you here for)? Then having come, they laid on the(=their) hands on [the] Jesus and arrested him.

And behold, one of the (ones) with Jesus, having stretched out the(=his) hand, drew his sword. And having struck the slave of the high priest, he cut off his ear.

Then [the] Jesus says (to) him, “Put your sword back into its place, for all having taken a sword will perish in(=by) a(=the) sword.”

“Or think that I am not able to ask(=pray) my Father, and he will now put beside(=send) me more (than) twelve legions of angels?”

“How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must be so?”

In that hour [the] Jesus said (to) the crowds, “As against a robber, have you come out with swords and clubs to capture me? Along day(=Everyday) I was sitting in the temple teaching, and you did not arrest me.”

“But all this has taken place, that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples, having left him, fled.

But they (who) having arrested [the] Jesus led (him) away to Caiaphas, the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered.

And [the] Peter was following him [from] at a distance up to the courtyard of the high priest. And having gone inside, he was sitting with the guards to see the end.

And the high priests and the whole council were seeking false testimony against [the] Jesus so that they might put him to death.

And they did not find, many false witnessing ones’ having come(=though many false witnesses came)10. But at last two (men), having come,

said, “This man said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and to build in three days.’”

And having stood up, the high priest said (to) him, “Do you answer nothing(=Have you no answer)? What (is it that) these (men) testifies against you?”

But [the] Jesus was remaining silent. And the high priest said (to) him, “I adjure you by the living God, that you [might] tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.”

[The] Jesus says (to) him, “You have said. Moreover I tell you, ‘From now you will see the Son of Man sitting at (the) right hand of the power and coming on the clouds of heaven.’”

Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying, “He blasphemed(=has spoken blasphemy)! What need yet(=now) do we have of witnesses? Behold, now you have heard the blasphemy.”

What does it seem to you(=What do you think)?” And they, having answered, said, “He is liable to death(=is deserving of death).”

Then they spat in his face and struck him. And they slapped (him),

saying, “Prophesy to us, Christ. Who is the one having hit you?”

And the Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. And having come to him, one servant girl saying(=said), “You also were being with Jesus of Galilee.”

But he denied before all, saying, “I do not know(# perfect as present) what you say.”

And (his) having gone out into the porch, another (servant girl) saw him. And she says (to) the ones there, “This was with Jesus of Nazareth.”

And again he denied with an oath, “I do not know(# perfect as present) the man.”

And after a little having come, the standing(# perfect as present) ones said (to) [the] Peter, “Truly you also are (one) of them, for your way of speaking(=dialect) makes you evident(=shows you up).”

Then he began to curse and to swear, “[that] I do not know(# perfect as present) the man.” And immediately a cock crowed.

And [the] Peter remembered the word of Jesus having said(=who had said), “[that] Before (for) a cock to crow, you will deny me three times.” And having gone outside, he wept bitterly.
