1 And after six days, [the] Jesus takes [the] Peter and James and John, his brother, and leads them up to high mountain apart.
2 And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his garments became white as the light.
3 And behold, Moses and Elias appeared to them, talking with him.
4 And having answered, [the] Peter said (to) Jesus, “Lord, it is good (for) us to be here. If you wish, I will make here three tents, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elias.”
5 Yet his speaking(=While he was still speaking)1, behold a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold a voice from the cloud, saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I was well pleased. Listen to him.”
6 And having heard, the disciples fell on their face and were greatly afraid.
7 And [the] Jesus approached, and having touched them, said, “Get up, and do not be afraid.”
8 And having lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus [himself] only.
9 And their coming down(when they were coming down, # genitive absolute) from the mountain, [the] Jesus commanded them, saying, “Tell no one the vision until the Son of Man might be raised from (the) dead.”
10 And the disciples asked him, saying, “Why then do the scribes say that it is necessary (for) Elijah to come first?”
11 And having answered, he said, “Elijah indeed comes and will restore all things.”
12 “And I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him and did to him whatever they wanted. Thus the Son of Man is also about to suffer by them(=at their hands).”
13 Then the disciples understood that he spoke to them about John the Baptist.
14 And (their) having come to the crowd, a man approached to him, kneeling (before) him.
15 And saying, “Lord, Have mercy on my son, because he has is an epileptic and suffer badly, for often he falls into the fire, and often into the water.”
16 “And I brought him to your disciples, and they were not able to heal him.”
17 And having answered, [the] Jesus said, “O faithless and having been perverted(=perverse) generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear (with) you? Bring him here to me.”
18 And [the] Jesus rebuked it and the demon came out of him, and the boy was healed from that hour.
19 Then having come to Jesus, the disciples said privately, “Why were we not able to
20 And he says (to) them, “Because of your little faith. For truly I say (to) you, If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible to you.”
21 This kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting2.
22 And their gathering(=when they were gathering)3 in [the] Galilee, [the] Jesus said (to) them, “The Son of Man is about to be delivered into (the) hands of men.”
23 “And they will kill him, and on the third day, he will be raised.” And they were greatly sad.
24 And their having come(=When they came)4 to Capernaum, the ones receiving two-drachma came to Peter and said, “Does your teacher not pay two-drachma?”
25 He says, “Yes.” Having come(=When Peter came) into the house, [the] Jesus spoke to him first, saying, “What does it seem to you(=do you think), Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth take toll or tax? From their sons or from [the] others?”
26 And (his) having said(=when he said)5, “From others,” Jesus said (to) him, “Then the sons are free.”
27 “But lest we might offend them, going to (the) sea, cast a hook, and take the first fish coming up, and having opened its mouth, you will find a stater(=a coin worth four drachmae). Taking that, give (it to) them for me and you.”
