And the Pharisees and Sadducees, having come (and) testing (him), asked him to show them a sign from heaven.

And he, having answered, said (to) them, “Evening’s having come(=when it is evening)1, you say, ‘(It will be) good weather, for the heaven (is) red.’”

“And in the morning, ‘Today it will be stormy, for the heaven is red (and) threatening.’ You know (how) to discern the face of the heaven, but you cannot (discern) the signs of the times.”

An evil and adulterous generation seeks a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah. And having left them, he went away.

And having come to the other side, the disciples forgot to take loaves.

And [the] Jesus said (to) them, “See and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

And they were discussing among themselves, saying, “[that] (It is because) we didn’t take(=bring) (any) bread.”

And [the] Jesus, having known, said, “You of little faith, why do you discuss among yourselves because(=the fact that) you have no bread?”

“Do you not yet understand? Do you not remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets you took(=gathered)?”

“Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many basketfuls you took?”

“How is it that you don’t understand that I did not talk (to) you about bread? But beware from the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducess.”

Then they understood that he did not tell to beware of the leaven of the loaves, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

And [the] Jesus, having come into the districts of Caesarea Philippi, was asking his disciples, saying, “Who do [the] men say (for) the Son of Man to be(=the Son of Man is)?”

And they said, “Some (say) John the Baptist, and others (say) Elijah, and others (say) Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

He says (to) them, “But who do you say (for) me to be(=I am)?”

And having answered, Simon Peter said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

And having answered, [the] Jesus said (to) him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah(=son of Jonah), for flesh and blood did not reveal (it to) you but my Father in [the] heavens.”

“And I also say (to) you, ‘[that] You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.’”

“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heavens, and whatever you might bind on [the] earth will be bound in [the] heavens, and whatever you might loose on [the] earth will be loosed in [the] heavens.”

Then he warned the disciples that they should not say to anyone that he is the Christ.

From then(=that time) Jesus Christ began to show to his disciples that it is necessary for him to go to Jerusalem, and to suffer many things from the elders and high priests and scribes, and to be killed, and on the third day to be raised.

And having taken him, (the) Peter began to rebuke him, saying, “(May God be) merciful(=God forbid!) to you, Lord, this shall never happen to you.”

Having [been] turned, he said (to) Peter, “Go behind me, Satan. You are a stumbling block to me, for you do not think the things of God but the things of men.”

Then [the] Jesus said (to) his disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”

“For whoever [may] wants to save his life, he will lose it, and whoever [might] loses his life for the my sake, he will find it.”

“For what will a man be benefited, if he may gain the whole world, but might forfeit his soul? Or what will a man give (in) exchange of(=for) his soul?”

“For the Son of Man is about to come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will reward to each man according to his conduct.”

Truly I say (to) you [that] (there) are some of the ones standing(#perfect ptc. as present) here who will not taste [of] death until they [might] see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.
