On that day, having gone out of the house, Jesus sat beside the sea.
And many crowds gathered to him, so that(#consequence with accusative and infinitive) him to sit(=he sat) after having gone into a boat, and all the crowd were standing on the shore.
And he spoke to them many things in parables, saying, “Behold, a sowing man went out to sow.”
“And in(#temporal with accusative and infinitive) him to sow(=as he sowed), some fell along the path, and the birds, having come, devoured them.”
“But others fell on rocky places where it did not have much soil. And immediately it sprang up, because of to have(=having) no depth of soil,”
“And sun’s having risen(=when the sun rose)1, it was scorched, and because of to have(=having) no root, it was dried up.”
“And others fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked them.”
“And others fell on [the] good soil and gave a crop, some a hundred, some sixty, some thirty.”
“The one having ears, let him hear.”
And having come, the disciples said (to) him, “Why do you speak to them in parables?”
And having answered, he said to them, “(It is) because it has been given (to) you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of [the] heavens, but to them it has not been given.”
“For whoever has, it will be given to him and it will be overflowed (to him). But who has not, even what he has will be taken from him.”
“Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing, they do not see, and hearing, they do not hear, nor do they understand.”
“And the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled to them which says, ‘In hearing, you will hear but you never [might] understand, and seeing, you will see but you never [might] perceive.’”
“For the heart of this people has grown dull, and they have hardly heard with (their) ears, and they have closed their eyes, lest they might perceive with (their) eyes, and might hear with (their) ears, and might understand with (their) heart, and might turn back, and I will(=should) heal them.”
“But blessed your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.”
“For truly I say (to) you that many prophets and righteous men longed to see what you see, and did not see, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear.”
“You, Therefore, hear the parable of the sowing(#aor. ptc.) one.”
“Anyone’s hearing(=When anyone hears)2 the word of the kingdom and not understanding(=does not understand)3, the evil one comes and snatches away the thing having been sown in his heart. This is the (seed, word, or man, seed is neuter noun but article is masculine) sown along the path.”
“And (as for) the (seed, word, or man, seed is neuter noun but article is masculine) sown on the rocky places, this is the one hearing the word and immediately receiving it with joy.”
“But he has no root in himself, but is(=endures) for a while, and trouble or persecution’s having occurred(=when trouble or persecution comes)4 because of the word, immediately he stumbles.”
“And the (seed, word, or man, seed is neuter noun but article is masculine) sown among the thorns, this is the one hearing the word, and the worry of the world and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.”
“And the (seed, word, or man, seed is neuter noun but article is masculine) sown on the good soil, this is the one hearing the word and understanding, who indeed bears fruit and produces, some a hundred, some sixty, some thirty.”
He put before them another parable, saying, “The kingdom of heavens is(#aor.) like a man having sown good seed in his field.”
“And in for men to sleep(when men sleep, temporal), his enemy came and sowed weeds in the middle of(=among) wheat, and went away.”
“And when the grain sprouted and produced a crop, then the weeds also appeared.”
“And having come, the slaves of the householder said (to) him,‘Lord, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? How then has it weeds?’”
“And he said (to) them, ‘An enemy [man] did this.’ So the slaves say to him, ‘Then do you want that we, having gone, might gather them?’”
“But he says, ‘No, lest, gathering the weeds, you might root up the wheat along with them.’”
“Let both [to] grow together until the harvest. And in the time of harvest, I will say (to) the reapers, ‘Gather first the weeds, and bind them in bundles in order to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.’”
He put before them another parable, saying, “The kingdom of [the] heavens is like a grain of mustard(=a mustard seed), which a man, having taken, sowed in his field.”
“Which is indeed the smallest of all seeds, but when it [might] grow, it is greater than herbs and becomes a tree, so that(# consequence with accusative and infinitive) the birds of heaven [to] come and [to] nest in its branches.”
He spoke to them another parable, “The kingdom of [the] heavens is like yeast which a woman, having taken, hid in three measure of flour, until it was all leavened.”
[The] Jesus spoke all these things in parables to the crowds, and without a parable he spoke nothing to them.
So that the thing spoken through the prophet might be(=was) fulfilled, saying, “I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things having been hidden from the foundation of the world.”
Then having left the crowds, he came into the house. And his disciples came to him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds of the field.”
And having answered, he said, “The one sowing the good seed is the Son of Man.”
“And the field is the world. And the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom. And the weeds are the sons of the evil one.”
“And the enemy having sown them is the devil. And the harvest is (the) end of (the) age, and the reapers are angels.”
“Therefore, as the weeds are gathered and are burned (with) fire, thus it will be at the end of the age.”
“The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all the things causing sin and the ones doing the lawlessness.”
“And they will throw them into the furnace of fire. There will be the weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
“Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. The one having ears, let him hear.”
“The kingdom of [the] heavens is like treasure having been hidden in the field, which a man, having found, has hidden, and goes from(=in)5 his joy, and sells all that he has, and buys that field.”
“Again, the kingdom of [the] heavens is like a merchant man seeking fine pearls.”
“And having found one valuable pearl, having gone away, he has sold all things that he had, and bought it.”
“Again, the kingdom of [the] heavens is like a net having been thrown into the sea and having gathered (fish) of every kind.”
“Which, when it was filled, having pulled (it) on the shore, and having sit down, they have gathered the good into vessels, but threw the bad away.”
“Thus it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come out and will separate the wicked from among the righteous.”
“And they will throw them into the furnace of fire. There will be the weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
“Did you understand all these things?” They said (to) him, “Yes.”
And he said (to) them, “Therefore every scribe having been a disciple to the kingdom of [the] heavens is like a householder [man] who brings out of his treasure things new and old.”
And it came to pass, when [the] Jesus ended these parables, he moved from there.
And having come into his hometown, he was teaching them in their synagogue, so that(# consequence with accusative and infinitive) them to be amazed and to say, “Where (did) this wisdom and mighty works come to this (man)?”
“Is not this the son of the carpenter? Is not his mother called Mary? And his brothers James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Judas?
“And are all his sisters not with us? Where then (did) all these things (come) to this (man)?”
And they were being stumbled in(=because of)6 him. And [the] Jesus said (to) them, “A prophet is not without honor except in (his) hometown and in his house.”
And he did not do there many mighty works because of their unbelief.
