1 “And be careful not to do your righteousness(=alms)1 before [the] men, [the] to be seen by them, otherwise(=for) you do not have reward from your Father in [the] heavens”
2 “Therefore when you [may] do alms, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they might be glorified by [the] men. Truly I say (to) you, they receive(=have received) their reward.”

4 “so that your alms may be in [the] secret, and your Father seeing in [the] secret will reward you”
5 “And when you [may] pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites, for they love(# phileo in Greek) to pray standing(# perfect as present) in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they might be seen by [the] men. Truly I say (to) you, they receive(=have received) their reward.”
6 “But when you may pray, go into your room, and having closed your door, pray to your Father (who is) in [the] secret. And your Father seeing in [the] secret will reward you.”
7 “And praying, do not say empty words as the Gentiles (do), for they think that they will be heard in(=for) their many words.”
8 “Therefore do not be like them, for your Father knows what you [have] need, before you [to] ask him.”
9 “Therefore you, pray in this way, ‘Our Father in [the] heavens, let your name be hallowed.’
10 ‘Let your kingdom come. Let your will be done, as (it has been done) in heaven, on earth.’
11 ‘Give us our daily bread today.’
12 ‘And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.’
13 ‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from [the] evil.’”
14 “For if you [might] forgive [the] men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”
15 “But if you might(=do) not forgive [the] men, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
16 “And when you [may] fast, do not be downcast(=sad-faced) like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that they(=their) fasting might be seen (by) [the] men. Truly I say (to) you, they receive(=have received) their reward.”
17 “But you, fasting, anoint(# Imperative) your head and wash your face,”
18 “so that (your) fasting might not be seen (by) men, but (by) your Father in [the] secret. And your Father seeing in [the] secret will reward you.”
19 “Do not store up (for) yourselves treasures on [the] earth, where moth and rust disfigures(=destroy), and where thieves break in and steal.”
20 “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust disfigures(=destroys), and where thieves do not break in nor(=and) steal.”
21 “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
22 “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye may be(=is) unmixed(=good), your whole body will be shining,”
23 “But if your eye may be(=is) bad, your whole body will be dark. If therefore the light in you is darkness, how great (is) the darkness!”
24 “No one is able to serve two lords, [or] for he will hate the one and he will love the other, or he will attached to (the) one and he will despise the other. You are not able to serve God and mammon.”
25 “Therefore I say (to) you, ‘Do not worry (about) your life, what you might(=will) eat or what you might(=will) drink; nor (about) your body, what you might(=will) wear. Is not [the] life more than [the] food, and the body (more) than [the] clothing?’”
26 “Look at the birds of the heaven(=air), that they do not sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and your heavenly Father feeds them. Do you not much differ from them?”
27 “And who of you (by) worrying is able to add one cubit to his stature(=age)?”
28 “And why do you worry about clothing? Learn the lesson of(=Consider) the lilies of the field, how they grow. They do not labor nor spin.”
29 “But I say (to) you, that (even) Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these.”
30 “And if [the] God so clothes the grass of the field, being(=which is) today and being thrown(=which is thrown) tomorrow into oven, (will He) not much more (clothe) you, O you of little faith?”
31 “Therefore, do not worry, saying, ‘What may(=shall) we eat?’ or ‘What may(=shall) we drink?’ or ‘What may(=shall) we wear?’”
32 “For the Gentiles seek all these things, for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.”
33 “But seek first the kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be added (to) you.”
34 “Therefore, do not worry about [the] tomorrow, for [the] tomorrow will worry about itself. Its(=The day’s own) evil(=trouble) (is) sufficient (for) the day.”
