(=alt.word)  ·  (added word)  ·  [omit]

Paul and Timothy, slaves of Christ Jesus, To all the saints in Christ Jesus, being(=who are) in(=at) Philippi, with bishops and deacons.

Grace (to) you and peace from God our Father and (the) Lord Jesus Christ.

I thank my God at(=upon) every remembrance of you,

always in every petition of mine making the petition for you all with joy,

for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until [the] now,

being confident of this very thing, that the One having begun in you a good work will complete (it) until (the) day of Christ Jesus,

as it is right for me to think this about you all, because of the me to have(=because I have) you in the(=my) heart; both in my chains(=imprisonment) and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, you all being(=you all are) partakers with me of the grace.

For my witness (is) [the] God, how I long for you all in bowels(=with the affection) of Christ Jesus.

And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all insight(=discernment),

for the you to distinguish(=that you may approve) the differing(=excellent) things, that you may be sincere(=pure) and blameless in (the) day of Christ,

having been filled (with the) fruit of righteousness through Jesus Christ, to (the) glory and praise of God.

And I want you, brothers, to know that the things about me(=what has happened to me) has come rather(=has really helped) to advance of the gospel,

so as to become(=so that it has become) clear in(=throughout) the whole palace guard and to all the rest my chains in Christ(=that my imprisonment is for Christ),

and [the] most of the brothers in (the) Lord, having become confident in(=by) my chains, to dare(=dare) to speak the word more courageously (and) fearlessly.

Some indeed preach [the] Christ even on account of(=out of) envy and rivalry, but some also on account of(=out of) goodwill.

The (latter preach) out of love, knowing that I am put(=appointed) for the defence of the gospel,

but the (former) proclaim [the] Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, thinking to raise(=add) affliction to my chains(=imprisonment).

What then? Only that (in) every way, whether (in) pretense or (in) truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, but also(=yes), I will rejoice.

For I know that this will turn out for salvation to me(=my deliverance) through your petition and (the) supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

according to my eager expectation and hope that in nothing I will be ashamed, but in(=with) all boldness, as always, now also Christ will be magnified(=exalted) in my body, whether through(=by) life or through(=by) death.

For to me, to live (is) Christ and to die (is) gain.

But if to live(=I live) in (the) flesh, this (means) fruit of work (for) me(=my labor). And what shall I choose? I do not know.

I am caught among(=between) the two, having the desire [for the] to depart and [to] be with Christ, for (that is) rather far better,

but [the] to remain (in) the flesh (is) more necessary on your account.

And being confident (of) this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy of the faith,

that your boast in Christ Jesus may abound in(=because of) me through my coming (to) you again.

Only, live as a citizen(=live your life in a manner) worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether having come and having seen you or being away(=whether I come and see you or am absent) I (may) hear the things about you, that you stand firm in one spirit, striving together (with) one soul(=mind) for the faith of the gospel,

and not being terrified in nothing(=anything) by the opposing ones, which is to them an indication of destruction, but of your salvation, and this (is) from God,

because (to) you it was granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for his sake,

having the same struggle which you saw in me and now hear in me.
