(=alt.word)  ·  (added word)  ·  [omit]

Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in (the) fear of God,

Make room for us (in your heart). We have wronged no one, we have corrupted no one, we have taken advantage of no one.

I do not say (this) for condemnation, for I have said before that in our hearts you are, [for the] to die with (you) and to live with (you).

To me (there is) great confidence to(=in) you; to me (there is) great pride on behalf of(=in) you. I have been filled (with) comfort; I am overflown (with) joy on(=in) all our affliction.

And for, our having come(=when we came)1 into Macedonia, our flesh [has] had no rest, but being afflicted in every (side) - on the outside conflicts, fears within.

But [the] God (who is) comforting the downcast comforted us in(=by) the coming of Titus;

and not only in(=by) his coming, but also in(=by) the comfort with which he was comforted on(=in) you, telling us (of) your longing, your mourning, your zeal for me, so as me to rejoice more(=so that I rejoiced more).

For even if I made you sorry in(=by) the epistle, I do not regret. Even if I was regretting, I see that the epistle made you sorry, even if an hour(=though only for a while).

Now I rejoice, not because you were grieved, but because you were grieved into repentance. For you were grieved according to God, so that you might suffer no loss from us.

For the grief according to God produces repentance (leading) to unregrettable salvation, but the grief of the world produces death.

For behold this very thing, the to be grieved(=that you were grieved) according to God; what eagerness it produced (in) you, but (also) defence, but (also) indignation, but (also) fear, but (also) longing, but (also) zeal, but (also) vindication! In everything, you commended yourselves to be innocent (in) the matter.

Then although I wrote you, (I did) not for the sake of the one having done wrong, nor for the sake of the one having been wronged, but for the sake of your eagerness for us to be manifested(=that your eagerness for us might be revealed) (to) you before [the] God.

Therefore we have been comforted. And in addition to our comfort, we rejoiced abundantly more at the joy of Titus, because his spirit has been refreshed from(=by) you all.

For if I have boasted to him anything about you, I was not ashamed. But as in truth we spoke (to) you all things, so our boasting to Titus also became truth.

And his bowels(=affections) for you are abundantly(=all the greater), remembering(=as he remembers) the obedience of you all, as with fear and trembling you received him.

I rejoice that in everything I have confidence in you.
