(=alt.word) · (added word) · [omit]
And before the feast of the Passover [the] Jesus knowing(# perfect as present) that his time had come that he should depart from this world to the Father, having loved the(=his) own (who were) in the world, [he] loved them to the end.
And supper’s taking place(=while the supper was being served)1, the devil’s having already put(=the devil had already put) (it) into the heart of Judas Iscariot, (son) of Simon, that he may betray him.
(Jesus) knowing that the Father had given him all things into the(=his) hands, and that he had come from God and he goes(=was going) to [the] God.
He rises(=got up) from the supper and takes off(=took off) the(=his) garments, and having taken towel, he girded himself.
Then he pours(=poured) water into the(=a) basin, and he began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe (them with) the towel with which he was having been girded(=was girded)2
So he comes to Simon Peter. He says (to) him, “Lord, do you wash my feet?”
Jesus answered and said (to) him, “You do not know now what I am doing, and you will know after these.”
Peter says (to) him, “You shall never wash my feet into the age(=forever).” Jesus answered him, “Unless I [might] wash you, you have no part with me.”
Simon Peter says (to) him, “Lord, not my feet only but also the(=my) hands and the(=my) head.”
Jesus says (to) him, “The one having been bathed does not have need(=need) to wash, except the feet, but is entirely clean. And you are clean but not all (of you).”
For he knew(# pluperfect as imperfect) the one betraying(# present participle for future) him. For this he said, “[that] You are not all clean.”
So when he had washed their feet, and taken his garments, and reclined again(=returned to the table). he said (to) them, “Do you know what I have done to you?”
“You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘[the] Lord,’ and you say well, for (so) I am.”
“So if I, the(=your) Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.”
“For I have given you an example, that you also may(=should) do as I have done to you.”
“Truly, truly, I say (to) you, a slave is not greater (than) his master, nor is a messenger greater (than) the one having sent him.”
“If you know these things, blessed are you if you [may] do them.”
“I am not speaking of you all. I know whom I chose. But that the Scripture might(=may) be fulfilled, ‘The one eating my bread has lifted up his heel against me.’”
“[From] Now I say (to) you before the to happen(=before it happens), so that when it does happen you might(=may) believe that I am (He).”
“Truly, truly, I say (to) you, the one receiving whomever I [might] send receives me. And the one receiving me receives the One having sent me.”
Jesus, having said these things, was troubled (in) the(=his) spirit and testified and said, “Truly, truly, I say (to) you, [that] one of you will betray me.”
The disciples were looking at one another, doubting of whom he speaks.
One of his disciples, whom [the] Jesus was loving, was reclining in(=on) the bosom of Jesus.
So Simon Peter nods to this one to ask who it is(# optative) about whom he speaks.
Having leaned back thus on Jesus’ breast, that one says (to) him, “Lord, who is it?”
So [the] Jesus answers, “It is that one to whom I will dip the morsel and shall give (it) him.” So having dipped the morsel, he takes and gives (it to) Judas, (the son) of Simon Iscariot.
And then after (he received) the morsel, [the] Satan entered into that one. So Jesus says (to) him, “What you do, do quickly.”
And no one of the ones reclining at the table knew for what he said (to) him.
For some were thinking, since Judas was having(=had) the money box, that Jesus is telling him, “Buy (the things) of which we [have] need for the feast,” or that he should give something to the poor.
So having taken the morsel, that one went out immediately. And it was night.
So when he went out, Jesus says, “Now the Son of Man was glorified and [the] God was glorified in him.”
“If [the] God was glorified in him, [the] God will also glorify him in him(=himself), and immediately will glorify him.”
“Children, yet a little while I am with you. You will seek me, and as I said (to) the Jews, ‘[that] Where I am going, you are not able to come,’ [and] I say (to) you now.”
“A new commandment I give you, that you may love one another, as I loved you that you also may love one another.”
“By this all (men) will know that you are disciples to me(=my disciples), if you have love in(=for) one another.”
Simon Peter says (to) him, “Lord, Where are you going?” Jesus answered, “Where I am going, you are able to follow me now, but you will follow later.”
Peter says (to) him, “Lord, why am I not able to follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.”
Jesus answers, “Will you lay down your life for me? Truly, truly, I say (to) you, a cock might(=will) not crow until you might(=will) deny me three times.”
