1 And there was a certain ailing (man), Lazarus from Bethany, from the village of Mary and Martha, her sister.
2 And Mary was the one anointing the Lord (with) ointment and having wiped his feet (with) her hairs, whose brother Lazarus was ailing.
3 Therefore the sisters sent to him, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom you love ails(=is sick).”
4 And having heard, [the] Jesus said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might(=may) be glorified through it.”
5 And [the] Jesus was loving [the] Martha and her sister and [the] Lazarus.
6 Therefore when he heard that he ails(=was sick), then he stayed two (more) days in (the) place which he was.
7 Then after this, he says (to) the disciples, “Let us go into [the] Judea again.”
8 The disciples says (to) him, “Rabbi, now the Jews were seeking to stone you, and are you going there again?”
9 Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours of the day(=daylight)? If anyone [may] walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.”
10 “But if anyone [may] walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.”
11 He said these things, and after this, he says (to) them, “Lazarus, our friend, has fallen asleep, but I go that I might(=may) wake him up.”
12 Therefore the disciples said (to) him, “Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will be saved(=will get well).”
13 And [the] Jesus had spoken about his death. But those ones thought that he says(=was speaking) about the sleep of sleepiness(=natural sleep).
14 Therefore [the] Jesus then said (to) them plainly, “Lazarus died(=is dead).”
15 “And I am glad because of you(=for your sake) that I was not there, so that you might(=may) believe. But let us go to him.”
16 So Thomas being called (the) Twin said (to) the(=his) fellow-disciples, “Let us also go that we might(=may) die with him.”
17 So [the] Jesus, having come, found him having(=being) already four days in the tomb.
18 And Bethany was near [the] Jerusalem about fifteen stadium(=two miles) away.
19 And many from the Jews had come to [the] Martha and Mary, that they might(=may) comfort them about the(=their) brother.
20 So [the] Martha, when she heard that Jesus is coming, (went and) met him. But Mary was sitting in the house.
21 So [the] Martha said to [the] Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.”
22 “And now I know that whatever you might ask (of) [the] God, [the] God will give you.”
23 [The] Jesus says (to) her, “Your brother will rise again.”
24 [The] Martha says (to) him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection in the last day.”
25 [The] Jesus said (to) her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one believing in me, even though he [might] dies, will live.”
26 “And everyone living and believing in me might(=will) never die into the age(=forever). Do you believe this?”
27 She says (to) him, “Yes, Lord, I have believed that you are the Christ, the Son of God, the One coming into the world.”
28 And having said this, she went away and called Mary her sister, having said secretly, “Teacher is here, and is calling (for) you.”
29 And when that (woman) heard, she rose quickly and went to him.
30 And [the] Jesus had not come yet into the village but he was still in the place where [the] Martha had met him.
31 So the Jews being with her in the house and comforting her, having seen that [the] Mary stood up quickly and went out, followed her, having thought that she is(=was) going to the tomb that she might(=may) weep there.
32 So when [the] Mary came where Jesus was, having seen him, fell down at his feet, saying to him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.”
33 So when Jesus saw her weeping and the Jews having come with her and weeping, he groaned (in) the spirit and troubled himself(=was troubled).
34 And he said, “Where have you laid him?” They say to him, “Lord, come and see.”
35 [The] Jesus wept.
36 So the Jews were saying, “See how he was loving(=loved) him.”
37 And some of them said, “Could not this (man) having opened the eyes of the blind [to] make(=have kept) that this (man) might(=may) not die?”
38 So Jesus groaning again in himself comes to the tomb. And it was a cave, and a stone was lying(=lay) upon it.
39 [The] Jesus says, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of the one having died, says (to) him, “Lord, now it smells, because it is (the) fourth day.”
40 [The] Jesus says (to) her, “Did I not say (to) you that if you would believe, you will(=would) see the glory of God?”
41 So they took away the stone. And [the] Jesus lifted up the(=his) eyes and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me.”
42 “And I had known(=knew) that you always hear me, but because of the crowd having surrounded, I said (this), that they might(=may) believe that you sent me.”
43 And having said these things, he cried out (with) a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!”
44 The one having died came out, having been bounded the feet and the hands (with) bandages, and his face had been wrapped (with) a napkin. [The] Jesus says (to) them, “Loose him, and let him go.”
45 So many of the Jews, the ones having come to [the] Mary and having watched what he did believed in him.
46 And some of them went away to the Pharisees and said (to) them what Jesus did(=had done).
47 So the high priests and the Pharisees gathered a council, and said, “What are we doing, because this man does(=performs) many signs?”
48 “If we [might] let him (alone) thus, all (men) will believe in him, and the Romans will come and will take both our place and nation.”
49 And a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest of that year, said to them, “You do not know nothing(=anything),”
50 “Nor do you consider that it is expedient for you that one man should die for the people and the whole nation should not perish.”
51 And he did not say this from himself(=on his own), but he being high priest of that year prophesied that Jesus was about to die for the nation.
52 And not only for the nation, but also that he would gather into one the children of God having been scattered.
53 So from that day, they plotted that they might(=may) kill him.
54 So [the] Jesus no longer was walking openly in(=among) the Jews, but went from there into the country near the wilderness, to a city being called Ephraim, and there he stayed with the disciples.
55 And the Passover of the Jews was near, and many went up from the country to Jerusalem before the Passover, that they might purify(=to purify) themselves.
56 So they were seeking [the] Jesus and were saying with(=to) one another, standing(# perfect participle as present meaning) in the temple, “What does it seem to you(=What do you think)? That he might(=will) not come to the feast?”
57 And the high priests and the Pharisees had given orders that if anyone might know(=knew) where he is(=was), he should report (it), so that they might arrest him.
