And passing by, he saw a man blind from birth

And his disciples asked him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he might be(=was) born blind?”

Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God might be revealed in him.”

“It is necessary for us to work the works of the One having sent me while it is day; night comes, when no one is able to work.”

“While I [may] am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

Having said these things, he spat on the ground and made mud from(=with) the saliva, and spread the mud on his eyes.

And he said (to) him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated ‘Sent’). So he went and washed and came (back) seeing.

So the neighbours and the ones formerly seeing(=having seen) him that he was beggar were saying, “Is not this the one sitting and begging(=who used to sit and beg)?”

Some were saying, “[that] This is he.” Others were saying, “No, but he is like him.” That one was saying, “[that] I am (he).”

So they were saying to him, “How were your eyes opened?”

That one answered, “The man being called Jesus made mud and spread (it on) my eyes, and said (to) me, ‘[that] Go to [the] Siloam and wash.’ So having gone and having washed, I saw(=could see).”

And they said (to) him, “Where is that one?” He says, “I do not know.”

They lead to the Pharisees him, the blind formerly.

Now it was a Sabbath, the day on which [the] Jesus made the mud and opened his eyes.

So the Pharisees also were asking him again how he saw(=could see). And the one said (to) them, “He put mud on my eyes, and I washed, and I see.”

So some of the Pharisees were saying, “This man is not from God, because he does not keep the Sabbath.” Others were saying, “How is a man, sinner, able to do such signs?” And there was a division among them.

So they say to the blind man again, “What do you say about him, because he opened your eyes?” And he said, “[that] He is a prophet.”

So the Jews did not believe about him that he was blind and saw(=had received his sight), until they called the parents of the one having seen(=who had received his sight).

And they asked them, saying, “Is this your son, whom you say that he was born blind? How then does he see now?”

So his parents answered and said, “We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind.”

“And we do not know how he sees now, nor do we know who opened his eyes. Ask him; he is of age. He will speak about(=for) himself.”

His parents said these things, because they were fearing the Jews, for the Jews had already agreed that if anyone might confess(=confessed) him (to be) Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue.

So his parents said, “[that] He is of age, ask him.”

So (for the) second (time) they called the man who was blind, and they said (to) him, “Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner.”

So that one answered, “I do not know if he is a sinner. One thing I know, that being blind(=though I was blind) now I see.”

So they said (to) him, “What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?”

He answered them, “I have told you already and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear again? Do [not(# expecting the answer ‘No’)] you also want to be his disciples?”

And they reviled him and said, “You are a disciple of that (man), but we are disciples of Moses.”

“We know that [the] God has spoken to Moses, but (as for) this man, we do not know where he is(=comes) from.”

The man answered and said (to) them, “Then the marvelous thing is in this, that you do not know where he is(=comes) from, and he opened my eyes.”

“We know that [the] God does not hear sinners, but if anyone [may] is godly and [may] does his will, he hears this (man).”

From the age(=Since the world began), it was not heard that anyone opened the eyes of one having been born blind.”

“If this (man) was not from God, he was not able to do anything.”

They answered and said (to) him, “You were altogether born in sins. And do you teach us?” And they cast him out.

Jesus heard that they cast him out. And having found him, he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?”

That one answered and said, “And who is he, Lord, that I might(=may) believe in him?”

[The] Jesus said (to) him, “You have seen him, and the one speaking with you is that one.”

And he was saying, “I believe, Lord,” and he worshiped him.

And [the] Jesus said, “For judgment I came to this world, that the ones not seeing may see, and the ones seeing might(=may) become blind.”

(Some) of the Pharisees being with him heard these things, and they said (to) him, “Are [not(# expecting the answer ‘No’)] we also blind?”

[The] Jesus said (to) them, “If you were blind, you would not have sin. But now you say, ‘[that] We see,’ your sin remains.”
