1 And having entered, he passed through [the] Jericho.
2 And behold, a man being called Zacchaeus by name; [and] he was a chief tax collector and he (was) rich.
3 And he was seeking(=wanted) to see who [the] Jesus is(=was), but he could not (see) from(=because of) the crowd, for he was short (in) stature(# dative of respect).
4 And having run to the front(=ahead), he went up into a sycamore tree so that he might see him, for he was about to pass that [way].
5 And as [the] Jesus came to the place, having looked up, he said (to) him, “Zacchaeus, having hurried,(=make haste and) come down, for today it is necessary (for) me to stay(=I must stay) at your house.”
6 And having hurried, he came down and welcomed him, rejoicing.
7 And having seen (it), they all were murmuring, saying, “[that] He has entered to be a guest with a man (who is) a sinner.”
8 And having stood, Zacchaeus said (to) the Lord, “Behold, Lord! I give(=will give)1 the half of my possessions to the poor. And if I have cheated anyone (for) anything, I pay back(=will pay back)2 four times .”
9 And [the] Jesus said (to) him,“[that] Today salvation has come to this house, for he also is a son of Abraham.”
10 “For the Son of Man came to seek and save the one having been lost.”
11 And their hearing(=as they heard)3 these things, he, having add(=again), told a parable, because him to be(=he was) near Jerusalem and (of) them to think(=they thought) that the kingdom of God is(=was) about to appear immediately.
12 He said therefore, “A certain nobleman went into a distant country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return.”
13 “And having called ten of his slaves, he gave them ten minas, and said (to) them, ‘Do business while(=until) I come.’”
14 “And his citizens were hating him, and they sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We do not want this man to reign over us.’”
15 “And it happened, in the him to return(=when he returned), having received the kingdom, [and] (that) he said(=commanded) these slaves to be called to him, to whom he had given the money, so that he might know how they did business.”
16 “And the first came, saying, ‘Lord, your mina has earned ten minas.’”
17 “And he said (to) him, ‘Well (done), good slave! Because you have been faithful in a very little, be (to you) (the) authority having over ten cities.’”
18 “And the second came, saying, ‘Your mina, Lord, has made five minas.’”
19 “And he said also to this one, ‘You also be over five cities.’”
20 “And the another came, saying, ‘Lord, behold, your mina, that I was having(=kept) [being] laid away in a handkerchief.’”
21 “For I was fearing(=afraid of) you, because you are an austere man. You take what you did not put, and you reap what you did not sow.”
22 “He says (to) him, ‘I will judge you out of your mouth, you wicked slave! You were knowing(=knew)4 that I am(=was) an austere man taking what I did not put and reaping what I did not sow?’”
23 “And why did you not give my money on a (money-changer’s) table(=into bank), so that having come(=when I came back), I could have claimed(=collected) it with interest?”
24 “And he said (to) the ones having stood by(# perfect), ‘Take the mina from him and give (it) to the one having ten minas.’”
25 “And they said (to) him, ‘Lord, he has ten minas.’”
26 “I say (to) you that to everyone having(=who has) will be given, but from the one not having(=who does not have), even what he has will be taken away.”
27 “But bring here these enemies of mine not having wished(=who did not want) me to reign over them, and kill them before me.”
28 And having said these things, he was going on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.
29 And it happened, as he drew near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount being called (the Mount) of Olives, that he sent two of (his) disciples,
30 saying, “Go to the village opposite, in which(=where) you, entering, will find a colt having been tied, on which no one [of men] has ever sat. And having loosed(=loose) it, (and) bring (it here).”
31 “And if anyone [may] asks you, ‘Why are you loosing (it)?’ You shall say thus(=like this), ‘Because the Lord has need of it.’”
32 And having gone, the ones having been sent found (it) as he said (to) them.
33 And their loosing(=as they were loosing)5 the colt, its owners said (to) them, “Why are you loosing the colt?”
34 And they said, “Because the Lord has need of it.”
35 And they brought it to [the] Jesus, and having thrown their garments on the colt, they put [the] Jesus on (it).
36 And his going(=as he went along)6, they were spreading their garments in(=on) the road.
37 And now his drawing near(=as he was now drawing near)7 [to] the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began rejoicing(=to rejoice and) to praise [the] God (with) a loud voice about all the mighty works which they had seen,
38 saying, “Blessed (is) the king coming(=who comes) in (the) name of (the) Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in (the) highest (place)!”
39 And some of the Pharisees from the crowd said (to) him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.”
40 And having answered, he said, “I say (to) you, if these will be silent(=should keep silent), the stones will cry out.”
41 And as he drew near, having seen the city, he wept over it,
42 saying, “[that] If you, even you, knew in(=on) this day the things (that make) for peace! But now they were(=are) hidden from your eyes,”
43 “For days will come upon you. And your enemies will build a rampart (against) you and will surround you will hem you on every side.”
44 “And they will dash to the ground you and your children within you(=your house), and they will not leave a stone upon a stone(=another) in you because you did not know the time of your visitation.”
45 And having gone into the temple he began to drive out the ones (who were) selling,
46 saying to them, “It has been(=is) written, ‘[and] My house shall be a house of prayer.’ But you have made it a den of robbers.”
47 And he was teaching daily in the temple, but the high priests and the scribes and the leaders of the people were seeking to kill him.
48 And they did not find anything they might(=could) do, for all the people were hanging upon his (words), hearing(=to hear).
