Then [the] Jesus said (to) the crowds and to his disciples.

saying, “On the Moses’ seat, the scribes and the Pharisees sat,”

“Therefore, do and observe all things whatever they might tell you, but do not do according their works, for they say and do not do.”

“And they bind heavy burdens and lay (them) on men’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to move them with their finger.”

“And they do all their works [for] to be seen by men, for they broaden their phylacteries and enlarge fringes.”

“And they love the place of honor in the dinners(=feasts) and the best seats in the synagogues”

“and greetings in the marketplaces and to be(=being) called rabbi by men.”

“But you, do not be called rabbi, for One is your teacher, you are all brothers.”

“And do not call (anyone) on [the] earth your father, for One is your Father, the heavenly (Father).”

“And do not be called leaders, for your leader is One, the Christ.”

“And the one greater than you(=the greatest among you) shall be your servant.” 12 “And whoever will exalt himself will be humble, and whoever will humble himself will be exalted.” 13 “And woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, (you) hypocrites! because you shut the kingdom of [the] heavens before [the] men, for you do not enter, nor allow the entering ones to enter.”

(none)

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, (you) hypocrites! because you go over sea and the dry land to make one proselyte, and when he might become (a proselyte), you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.”

“Woe to you, blind guides, (who is) saying, ‘If anyone might swear in(=by) the temple, it is nothing, but if anyone might swear in(=by) the gold of the temple, he is bound (by his oath).’”

“Fools and blind men, for which is greater, the gold or the temple having made the gold sacred?”

“And, ‘If anyone might swear in(=by) the alter, it is nothing, but if anyone might swear in(=by) the gift on it, he is bound (by his oath).’”

(You) blind men, for which is greater, the gift or the alter making the gift sacred?”

“Therefore, the one having sworn in(=by) the alter swears in(=by) it and in(=by) all on it.”

“And the one having sworn in(=by) the temple swears by it and in(=by) the One dwelling (in) it.”

“And the one having sworn in(=by) [the] heaven swears in(=by) the throne of God and in(=by) the One sitting on it.”

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, (you) hypocrites! For you tithe the mint and the dill and the cummin, and you have neglected the heavier things of the law: the judgment and [the] mercy and [the] faith. But (you) should do these things and not neglect those.”

“You, blind guides, (you are) straining out the gnat but swallowing the camel.”

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, (you) hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside they are full from(=of) robbery and self-indulgence.”

“You blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup, that its outside also might be clean.”

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, (you) hypocrites! For you are like [having] whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within they are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.”

“Thus you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but within you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.”

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, (you) hypocrites! For you build the tombs of prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous.”

“And you say, ‘If we were in the days of our fathers, we would not have been their partakers in the blood of the prophets.’”

“So you witness to(=against) yourselves that you are sons of the ones having killed the prophets.”

“And [you] fill up the measure of your fathers!”

(You) snakes, (you) brood of vipers! How might(=will) you escape from the judgment of hell?”

“Therefore, behold, I send (to) you prophets and wise men and scribes. (Some) of them you will kill and will crucify, and (some) of them you will flog in your synagogues and will persecute from city to city.”

“So upon you might(=will) comes all (the) righteous blood being shed on [the] earth from the blood of the righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple(=sanctuary) and the alter.”

“Truly I say (to) you, all these things will come upon this generation.”

“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one killing the prophets and stoning the ones having sent to her(=you)! How often I wanted to gather your children, as a hen gathers her chicks under the(=her) wings, and you were not willing!”

“Behold, your house is left (to) you desolate.”

“For I say (to) you, you might(=will) not see me from now until you might(=will) say, ‘Blessed is the One coming in (the) name of (the) Lord.’”
