1 And Agrippa was saying to [the] Paul, “It is permitted (to) you to speak on behalf of yourself.” Then [the] Paul, having stretched out the(=his) hand, was defending (himself).

2 “About all things of which I am being accused by the Jews, King Agrippa, I consider myself happy, being about to defend (myself) before you today.”

3 “Especially you being(=because you are) an expert of all customs and questions among (the) Jews, therefore I beg (you) to hear me patiently.”

4 “All the Jews know my manner of life from youth(=since my youth), having been(=which has been) from (the) beginning among my nation and at Jerusalem.”

5Knowing(=They have known) me for a long time, if they are willing to testify, that according to the strictest sect of our religion I have lived (as) a Pharisee.”

6 “And now I stand, being judged, on(=because of) hope of the promise having been(=made) by [the] God to our fathers,”

7 “to which our twelve tribes hope to attain, worshipping in(=with) earnestness night and day(#accusative of duration), about which hope I am accused by Jews, O King!”

8 “Why is it judged(=thought) incredible with you, if(=that) [the] God raises (the) dead?”

9 “I myself indeed [therefore] thought to have to(=that I must) do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth,”

10 “which indeed I did in Jerusalem. I shut up many of the saints in prisons, having received the authority from the high priests. And their being killed(=when they were killed)1 I cast pebble(=vote) against (them).”

11 “And often punishing them throughout all the synagogues, I was compelling(=used to force) (them) to blaspheme. And exceedingly raging against them, I was persecuting(=used to persecute) even as far as(=to) outside(=foreign) cities,”

12 “among which, going to [the] Damascus with the authority and commission of the high priests,”

13 “At midday along(=on) the way I saw, O King, a light from heaven above(=beyond) the brightness of the sun, shining round me and the ones going with me.”

14 “And all our having fallen down(=when we had all fallen)2 to the earth(=ground), I heard a voice saying to me in Hebrew language, ‘Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? It is hard for you to kick against goads.’”

15 “And I said, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And the Lord said, ‘I am Jesus whom you persecute.’”

16 “But get up and stand upon your feet. For I appeared (to) you for this (purpose), to appoint you (as) an servant and (as) a witness both of the things which you have seen me and of the things which I will appear to you,”

17 “delivering you from the people and from the Gentiles, to whom I send you,”

18 “to open their eyes, in order to return from darkness to light and (from) the authority of Satan to [the] God, in order for them to receive forgiveness of sins and portion among the ones having been sanctified by faith in me.”

19 “King Agrippa, therefore, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision.”

20 “But to the ones in Damascus firstly, and also (at) Jerusalem, and all the country of Judaea, and to the Gentiles, I was preaching to repent and to return to [the] God, doing works worthy of the repentance.”

21 “On these accounts, the Jews, having seized me in the temple, were trying to kill (me).”

22 “Therefore having attained the help from [the] God until this day, I stand, witnessing both to small and great, saying nothing beyond the things which both the prophets and Moses said being about to(=would) happen,”

23 “if(=that) the Christ must suffer, (and) if(=that) (being) the first by resurrection from the dead, he is about to(=would) proclaim light both to the people and the Gentiles.”

24 And his defending(=as he was defending himself)3 these things(=thus), [the] Festus says with a loud voice, “You are mad, Paul, The many letters(=Too much learning) change you into madness.”

25 But [the] Paul says, “I am not mad, most excellent Felix, but I am speaking the words of truth and soberness.”

26 “For the King understands about these things, to whom I also say speaking confidently(=speak freely). For I am [not] convinced of nothing of these things to be escaped notice (from) him(=that none of these things has escaped his notice). For this thing is not having been done(=was not done) in a corner.”

27 “King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you believe.”

28 And [the] Agrippa said (to) [the] Paul. “In a few (words) you persuade me to make a Christian.”

29 And [the] Paul said, “I would pray(# optative) to God, both in a few or many (words, time), not only you but also all the ones hearing me today to become(=might become) such as I am, except for these bonds(=chains).”

30 The King rose, and the governor and Bernice and the ones sitting with them.

31 And having withdrawn, they were saying to one anther, saying, “This man is doing nothing worthy of death or bonds.”

32 And Agrippa said (to) [the] Festus, “This man was able to(=could) have been set free if he had not appealed to Caesar.”
