1 And after five days, Ananias the high priest came down with some elders and a spokesman, certain Tertullus, who reported to the governor against [the] Paul.
2 And his being called(=when he was called)1, [the] Tertullus began to accuse, saying,
3 “Enjoying much peace through(=by) you, and reform’s becoming(=reforms are brought)2 to this nation through your foresight, both in every way and everywhere we acknowledge, most excellent Felix, with all thankfulness.”
4 “But in order that I may not hinder you further, I beg you to hear us briefly (in) your kindness.”
5 “For having found(=we have found) this man a pestilent fellow, and (the one) stirring up revolt (among) all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the heresy(=sect) of the Nazarenes,”
6 “who also tried to profane the temple, and whom we seized.”
7 “But having come, Lysias, the commander, took (him) away from our hands with great force.”
8 “Of whom having examined yourself(=By examining him yourself), you will be able to know about all these things of which we accuse him.”
9 And having joined (in the attack), the Jews also alleging(=alleged) these things to have(=that these things were) so.
10 And [the] Paul answered, the governor’s having nodded(=when the governor signalled)3 him to speak, “Knowing your being a judge to this nation from(=for) many years, I cheerfully defend the things about myself.”
11 “Your being able(=As you are able)4 to know, that there are not more than twelve days to me since I went up to Jerusalem worshipping(=to worship).”
12 “And they did not find me discussing with anyone in the temple, neither making a gathering of crowd in the synagogues or throughout the city.”
13 “Neither is they able to prove (to) you (the things) concerning which they now accuse me.”
14 “But I confess (to) you this, that according to the Way which they call a heresy, so I worship the God of the father(=our fathers), believing all the things according to the law and the things having been written in the prophets,”
15 “having (the) hope toward [the] God, which these men themselves also accept, the resurrection of both the just and the unjust to be about to be(=that will be).”
16 “By this I also train myself to have a blameless conscience toward [the] God and [the] men always.”
17 “And after many years, I came having made(=to bring) to my nation alms and offerings.”
18 “Among which they found me having been purified in the temple, not with a crowd nor with uproar. But there (were) some Jews from [the] Asia,”
19 “who ought to be present before you and [to] accuse if they have anything against me,”
20 “or let these men themselves say what wrongdoing they found my standing(=while I was standing)5 before the council.”
21 “Except (the thing) about this one voice that I cried out, standing among them, [that] ‘Concerning (the) resurrection of the dead I am being judged today before you.’”
22 And [the] Felix having known more exactly the things about the Way deferred them, having said, “When Lysias the commander comes down, I will decide the things about you(=your case),”
23 having directed to the centurion to keep him, and to have(=to give) him a relaxation, and to hinder none of his own (people) to serve him.
24 And after some days, having come, [the] Felix with his own wife Drusilla being a Jewess sent for [the] Paul. And he heard him about the faith in Christ Jesus.
25 And his discoursing(=when he discoursed)6 about righteousness and self-control and the judgment of coming(=to come), having been afraid, [the] Felix answered, “Go away for now. But having gotten time, I will call for you.”
26 And at the same time, hoping that money will be given him by [the] Paul, therefore also more frequently sending for him, he was talking with him.
27 And two years’ having been completed(=when two years had [been] passed)7, [the] Felix received a successor Porcius Festus. And desiring to lay down(=show) a favor to the Jews, [the] Felix left [the] Paul [having been] bound.
