1 (The) book of (the) genealogy of Jesus Christ, (the) son of David, (the) son of Abraham.

2 Abraham begot [the] Isaac, and Isaac begot [the] Jacob, and Jacob begot [the] Judas and his brothers,

3 and Judas begot [the] Perez and [the] Zerah from(=by) [the] Tamar, and Perez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot [the] Ram,

4 and Ram begot [the] Amminadab, and Amminadab begot [the] Nahshon, and Nahshon begot [the] Salmon,

5 and Salmon begot [the] Boaz from(=by) [the] Rahab, and Boaz begot [the] Obed from(=by) [the] Ruth, and Obed begot [the] Jesse,

6 and Jesse begot [the] David the king. And David the king1 begot [the] Solomon from(=by) the (wife) of Uriah,

7 and Solomon begot [the] Rehoboam, and Rehoboam begot [the] Abijah, and Abijah begot [the] Asa.

8 And Asa begot [the] Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat begot [the] Joram, and Joram begot [the] Uzziah.

9 And Uzziah begot [the] Jotham, and Jotham begot [the] Ahaz, and Ahaz begot [the] Hezekiah.

10 And Hezekiah begot [the] Manasseh, and Manasseh begot [the] Amon(=Amos)2, And Amon(=Amos)3 begot [the] Josiah.

11 And Josiah begot [the] Jechoniah and his brothers at (the time) of the exile to Babylon.

12 And after the exile to Babylon Jechoniah begot [the] Shealtiel, and Shealtiel begot [the] Zerubbabel,

13 and Zerubbabel begot [the] Abiud, and Abiud begot [the] Eliakim, and Eliakim begot [the] Azor,

14 and Azor begot [the] Zadok, and Zadok begot [the] Akim, and Akim begot [the] Eliud,

15 and Eliud begot [the] Eleazar, and Eleazar begot [the] Matthan, and Matthan begot [the] Jacob,

16 and Jacob begot [the] Joseph the husband of Mary, from(=of) whom Jesus was born, the One being called Christ.

17 Thus all the generations from Abraham to David (are) fourteen generations; and from David to the exile to Babylon (are) fourteen generations; and from the exile to Babylon to the Christ (are) fourteen generations.

18 And the birth of Jesus Christ was thus(=in this way). His mother Mary’s having been betrothed(=When his mother Mary was engaged)4 to Joseph, before the them to come together(=before they came together), she was found having in womb(=to be with child) from(=through) (the) Holy Spirit.

19 And Joseph, her husband being righteous, and not willing to expose her to public disgrace, decided to divorce her quietly.

20 But his having considered(=while he considered)5 these things, behold, an angel of (the) Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary (as) your wife. For the One having been begotten in her is from(=through) (the) Holy Spirit.”

21 “And she will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”

22 And all this was done so that the thing having spoken by (the) Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled, saying,

23 “Behold, the virgin will have in womb(=be with child), and will bear a son. And they will call his name Immanuel, which is, being translated, ‘[the] God with us.’”

24 Joseph, having been raised(=awoke) from the(=his) sleep, did as the angel of (the) Lord commanded him, and took his wife,

25 and he was not knowing(=did not know)6 her until she bore(=had born) a son, and he called his name Jesus.
